(NLDO) - The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association assessed the Journalists Association of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper as a strong association, implementing many high-quality activities.
On the afternoon of March 6, the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper held its 10th Congress, term 2025-2027.
Attending the congress were journalist Nguyen Tan Phong, member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association; Mr. Duong Vu Thong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association; Ms. Truong Thi Kim Trang, Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association; journalist To Dinh Tuan, Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, and more than 90 members.
The Congress of the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper was chosen by the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association as a model congress.

Number of award-winning journalism works increased by 44%
Reporting on the results of the 9th term, Secretary of the Association Nguyen Quy Phong said that during the past term, the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper strived to implement the targets approved in the Resolution of the 8th term Congress; organized many practical activities associated with improving professional skills, political ideology awareness, and emulation movements launched by agencies and associations at all levels.
Journalist Duong Quang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, delivered the opening speech of the congress.
During the last term, 22 new members were admitted. Currently, the total number of members (issued membership cards for the 2021-2026 term) working at Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper is 92. During the term, 12 members were admitted to the Party.
At the same time, the work of training, fostering professional skills, and educating political ideology to build a team of exemplary reporters and editors who are politically steadfast and professionally skilled is considered important by the Party Committee - Editorial Board and is a key, regular task of the association.
Mr. Nguyen Quy Phong, Secretary of the Association of Journalists of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, reported on the activities of the past term.
The Association and the Editorial Board participated in organizing 2 training courses on applying artificial intelligence (AI) in creating digital press content, attracting about 150 participants. At the same time, the Association organized training on social networks for members, officials and employees.
During the past term, the association coordinated with the editorial office to organize 25 professional and thematic meetings. All meetings were of high quality, practical, and attracted a large number of members.
Members give comments on the direction of activities for the next term at the congress.
At the same time, focus on propaganda and mobilize members to actively respond to Directive 05/2016 of the Politburo on "Promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle".
Members promote a sense of responsibility and ethics for journalists; have a spirit of solidarity, support and help each other in work and life; together build a friendly working environment, and promote awareness of preserving the reputation and brand of the newspaper.
"During the past term, members have complied well with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and the agency's rules and regulations," Mr. Nguyen Quy Phong affirmed.
Overview of the congress
Mr. Nguyen Quy Phong said that implementing the policy of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, the Journalists Association of the Lao Dong Newspaper has actively participated with the Editorial Board in disseminating high-quality journalistic works; organizing in-depth topics. Thereby, many reporters have produced good, quality works; and have been promptly encouraged and rewarded according to the agency's regulations.
As a result, during its tenure, the Lao Dong Newspaper had 89 works winning journalism awards. Notably, in 2020, the program "One million national flags with fishermen at sea" was honored to receive the A prize at the 14th National Journalism Awards.
In addition to the National Press Award and Ho Chi Minh City Press Award, many of the newspaper's works have won high prizes at specialized and local press awards.
The Lao Dong Newspaper also has many works that won the Award for Composition and Promotion of Literary, Artistic and Journalistic Works on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style".
According to Mr. Nguyen Quy Phong, compared to the previous term, the number of award-winning journalism works increased by 44% (39 works). This result was achieved thanks to the timely and in-depth guidance of the Party Committee - Editorial Board; the close coordination between the branch and the Editorial Board in organizing, implementing and selecting works.
Worthy of being a congress point
Speaking at the congress, journalist Nguyen Tan Phong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association - assessed the careful preparations for the congress; the congress took place solemnly, in accordance with regulations, worthy of being chosen by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association as a model congress; worthy for other branches and inter-branches to refer to, to successfully organize congresses in their branches.

On average, each year, about 20 works win press awards. This shows that the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper operates very effectively.
In the coming time, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association requested the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper to continue to put the association's work into a more systematic manner; to be more proactive in disseminating high-quality journalistic works. Assessing the efforts and successes of the Association in the past term, journalist To Dinh Tuan - Party Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the Lao Dong Newspaper - requested that in the coming term, the Association's Secretariat should be more proactive in advising and proposing related activities. At the same time, organize more professional training programs, especially content related to artificial intelligence (AI).
The Editor-in-Chief of the Lao Dong Newspaper also requested to research and propose an internal press award; establish specialized groups to discuss and improve professional skills for members. In particular, the Lao Dong Newspaper Journalists Association must be a responsible member of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association.
The Congress elected the Branch Secretariat consisting of 5 men/women: Nguyen Quy Phong, Nguyen Duy Quoc, Huynh Thi Nga, Do Van Thong and Dao Thanh Tung.
The Secretariat of the Association of Journalists of the Lao Dong Newspaper for the 2025-2027 term was introduced to the congress.
At the same time, elect 15 delegates to attend the 9th Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, term 2025 - 2030.
