(NLDO) - While fishing on the Gianh River, a resident in Quang Binh discovered a 40cm long bullet left over from the war.
The Military Command of Thach Hoa commune surrounded the area and assigned people to protect the warhead.
On the afternoon of March 24, the Military Command of Thach Hoa Commune, Tuyen Hoa District, Quang Binh Province - said that a local resident, while casting a net on the Gianh River, discovered and directly pulled aboard a warhead left over from the war.
The person who discovered this bullet was Nguyen Van Suu (born in 1980, residing in Dam Thuy 1 village, Thach Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district).
According to initial information, at around 10am on March 22, while casting his net on the Gianh River, Mr. Suu discovered a bullet lying on the riverbed. Realizing the object was suspected to be a leftover weapon, he quickly pulled it ashore and immediately reported it to the local authorities.
Warheads were discovered in Thach Hoa commune.
According to initial determination, the bullet is about 40cm long and about 6cm in diameter. This could be a type of artillery shell left over from the war, potentially dangerous.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Military Command of Thach Hoa commune quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the dangerous area, and posted 24/7 personnel to ensure people's safety.
The authorities have reported the incident to the Military Command of Tuyen Hoa District for handling according to regulations. Currently, the authorities are coordinating to verify the origin of the warhead and transport and handle it according to the safest procedures.
