At 60, I realized 4 "assets" that never lose value, the sooner you invest, the bigger the "profit" when you get old

These "assets", when invested properly, will help old age be peaceful and free from worries and sorrows.

I have always believed that a person's choices and efforts in the first half of his life determine his happiness in the second half of his life. How you choose which aspects to invest in affects the quality of your life to a certain extent.

Personally, it took me many years to realize that investing in myself is the least expensive but most profitable investment in the years entering the second half of life.

So since my 40s, I have been saving money every month to “enrich” myself by investing in the following 4 aspects.

Now that I'm over 60, I have a happy retirement life, full of both material and spiritual things, successful children, and good health.

Health

Before the age of 40, a friend of mine was always busy working and forgot to rest. She had been unemployed so she felt happier when she worked hard, had a house, a car, and a career.

However, at the age of U50, my friend fell seriously ill for many months due to overwork. At this time, she realized that a person's most valuable asset is none other than health.

My friend started exercising, going to bed early and getting up early, adjusting her work schedule to have time to rest. Thanks to that, her mental and physical health got better and better.

Witnessing your story and realizing that health is the foundation of happiness, I focus more on taking care of myself and my family.

I maintain a regular diet of 3 meals a day, limit foods high in fat, sugar, and salty spices, and invest in clean, quality foods.

I practice yoga every day, have regular health check-ups, and if I feel unwell, I rest or go to the doctor immediately for timely treatment. A cousin who used to criticize me for worrying too much now asks me for my secret when she sees that I am still in better health than many people my age.

Knowledge

No matter what age you are, it is necessary to continuously improve your value through learning. There were years when I was busy with work and family, so I did not learn any new knowledge. This made me feel like a programmed machine, not progressing in any aspect.

After turning 40, I started buying books again, signing up for courses to supplement professional skills to set an example for my children to study hard. Many of my friends think that studying is a waste because we are old, but I don't care.

Even now, at the age of 60, I still use my pension every month to buy books. As you get older, learning will keep you mentally sharp, broaden your knowledge of the wider world, and keep you from feeling left behind by the next generation.

Personal preference

When a person indulges in something they love, they recharge their body and mind.

My neighbor, Ms. Tran, is a housewife and often complains that she feels frustrated with her current life revolving around family and children. Hearing my suggestion to try to find her passion from her youth, Ms. Tran began to remember her forgotten hobby of photography.

In her free time, Ms. Tran invites her family and friends to go out and travel, sightsee, and take photos. Thanks to maintaining her passion, Ms. Tran's personality has also become more pleasant, she smiles more often, and her appearance is increasingly youthful.

I often remind myself that no matter how busy I am, I should take time every month to travel and explore new lands near and far because this is the time that makes me happy. Until I turned 60, I still maintain this habit. Thanks to that, I have met many new retirees to share stories and experiences with, and every day is full of excitement.

Child education

In an online survey with the topic "At the end of your life, what will you regret the most?", 62% of participants chose "Regret for not educating your children properly".

Raising good children is one of the most important tasks of parents. A family can only be truly rich when it raises compassionate, intelligent and capable children.

So I spared no expense in investing in my children’s foreign language education, listening to their needs to choose the right subjects for them and spending time teaching them life skills. Now my children are all grown up and have stable careers. They are always grateful for having the opportunity to study in the best environment possible for their parents and have not forgotten to show their gratitude to me. For someone who has passed the age of 60, that is enough to make me satisfied.
