TPO - In March, heat waves and widespread heat waves appeared in many places in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City. It is forecasted that in the first half of the month, there will be some rainy days in some places; in the second half of March, the Southeast region and the Southwest border areas will have showers in the late afternoon.

Possibility of low pressure at sea

On March 1, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station provided weather forecast information for March in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, in the first 10 days of the month, the continental cold high pressure (cold air) continued to weaken and move east. The low pressure area in the west that dominates the northern provinces continued to develop and gradually expand eastward.

Around March 4-5, cold air returns and is quite strong, lasting until around March 9-10, then gradually weakens. There is a possibility that around March 9-10, a low pressure area will appear in the East Sea, causing thunderstorms and dangerous weather at sea.

Ho Chi Minh City weather is hot and sunny in the city center from March 1-4; there is rain in some places with the possibility of moderate rain, localized heavy rain from March 4-7 and March 9-10.

Mid-March: In the first half of the week, the cold front weakens and shifts east; the low pressure area over the East Sea is likely to persist for a few days. In the second half of the week, the cold front weakens, the hot low pressure area in the west develops and expands eastward.

Ho Chi Minh City's weather will generally have showers and thunderstorms in some places, and heat in the Eastern region and some places in the southwestern border area of the Western region in the second half of the week.

Last week of March: The hot low pressure in the west tends to become stronger. The cold air is weak, shifting east and almost no longer able to diffuse down to the Southern region; in the last few days of the month, the equatorial low pressure trough is likely to lift its axis slightly to the north. The weather in Ho Chi Minh City this week will be sunny with a few days of widespread heat in the city center. Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall due to local heat convection are likely to appear in a few days.

It is forecasted that in March 2025, the temperature in Ho Chi Minh City will increase significantly compared to the previous month. Heat waves and widespread heat waves will appear in many waves with the absolute highest temperature reaching 37 and above 37 degrees Celsius in the city center. The number of hot days will generally range from 7-12 days, approximately lower than the average of many years.

The average temperature is commonly from 28-29 degrees Celsius; the highest is commonly 33-36 degrees Celsius, a few days 36-37 degrees Celsius; the lowest is from 22-25 degrees Celsius.

Unseasonal rain in many places

Regarding unseasonal rains, it is forecasted that in the first half of the month, there will be some days of rain in some places, mainly caused by easterly wind disturbances. In the second half of the month, the Southeast region and the southwestern border areas will have rain due to local thermal convection, so showers and thunderstorms will appear in the late afternoon; during thunderstorms, be on guard against thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and gusts of wind that can be dangerous to people and cause property damage.

Total monthly rainfall is generally higher than the average of many years in the same period. In particular, there is a lot of rain in the middle and last weeks of the month with total rainfall higher than the average of many years by about 10-30%; the first week of the month has total rainfall approximately equal to the average of many years in the same period.

“The early-season heat waves in the region will have a negative impact on the health and well-being of outdoor workers. Thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and gusts of wind can cause dangerous weather for people, damage property, and make daily life difficult. Be prepared for low-pressure areas at sea that can cause bad weather and big waves, strong winds, and rough seas that can be dangerous for ships operating at sea,” the Southern Hydrometeorological Station informed.

Ho Chi Minh City and the South will have hot weather this weekend, with some places over 35 degrees Celsius.
