The program provides participants with the opportunity to improve their teaching skills, improve their English proficiency, and expand their knowledge of American culture and society.
In parallel with their teaching assistantships, they will strengthen the way Vietnamese is taught to students at US colleges and universities.
Participants have the opportunity to hone their teaching skills, improve their English proficiency, and expand their knowledge of U.S. society and culture, as well as interact with their host community through conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects.
FLTA participants will serve as teaching assistants in language classes for up to 20 hours per week and are required to enroll in at least two courses each semester, including one related to American studies.
The remaining subjects can be audited or taken for credit. FLTAs will also be expected to coordinate and organize in-person or online cultural events, language clubs and language corners.
