Vu Thu District (Thai Binh Province) is building a tourism development project based on its agricultural strengths and preserved tangible and intangible cultural values, contributing to making tourism a key economic sector of the locality.

According to statistics, in 2023, Vu Thu district (Thai Binh province) welcomed about 110,000 visitors, in 2024 welcomed about 160,000 visitors concentrated at the following locations: Keo Pagoda National Special Monument, President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Tan Hoa commune, Bach Thuan commune Ecological Garden Village, Vu Toan lotus and water lily garden (Xuan Hoa commune), EPC Parm Experience Farm (Song Lang commune).

The main target audience is domestic tourists visiting historical and cultural sites, attending festivals, experiencing agricultural tourism products and cultural and sports activities. Revenue from tourism is estimated at about 25 billion VND/year.

Bach Thuan garden village (Vu Thu, Thai Binh).

Vu Thu district has built and developed agricultural products for tourism such as: Production of rice and food crops with quality certification in the direction of agricultural practices associated with experiential tourism (production of Lang Keo sticky rice, Vu Van rice, mulberry cultivation to raise silkworms in Hong Phong commune, clean vegetable products; refined products from medicinal plants, cuisine, etc.).

With great potential in developing community ecotourism, recently Bach Thuan commune (Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province) has welcomed a number of domestic and foreign delegations to survey and seek opportunities for tourism development.

Producing flowers, ornamental plants, fruit trees associated with ecological garden models, ancient houses (Bach Thuan commune), ornamental plants in Tan Lap commune. Developing traditional craft villages to introduce and sell products to tourists as souvenirs (traditional embroidery craft in Minh Lang commune).

By the end of January 2025, the whole district had 55 OCOP products, including 16 4-star products, 30 3-star products and 9 products submitted to the province waiting for the provincial council to recognize the 4-star products.

The embroidery village in Minh Lang commune is included in the tour and tourist route when visiting Vu Thu.

As the western gateway of Thai Binh province, it has a route connecting to Nam Dinh and Ha Nam provinces, especially Hanoi City. This is a great advantage for Vu Thu district to approach, promote and introduce its available potential in developing green tourism, experiential tourism, garden village tourism, etc.

The construction of the Project on tourism development associated with agriculture, trade and services aims to mobilize the strength of the entire political system to participate in tourism development associated with agriculture and trade and services development, striving for tourism in Vu Thu district to become an important economic sector by 2030. The total estimated cost of implementing the Project by 2030 is more than 141 billion VND.

Develop policy mechanisms to support agricultural development, OCOP products, restore traditional craft villages to serve tourism development associated with agriculture, trade and services.
