In order to honor and encourage Vietnamese enterprises to move towards sustainable growth and environmental protection, on the evening of August 29, under the chairmanship of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association and Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper jointly organized the Ceremony to honor and award the title of "Ho Chi Minh City Green Enterprise 2024". The program is part of a series of activities towards the 5th City Economic Forum with the theme "Industrial transformation, a new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City."
After the evaluation rounds of the appraisal council and the selection council, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) was awarded the title "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City 2024" by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for trade and service enterprises.
The purpose of the program is to focus on three core contents: One is to honor, reward, and encourage businesses to comply with regulations on waste treatment arising in the production and business process, to have many researches and produce environmentally friendly products; Two is to enhance the responsibility of businesses in protecting the environment, aiming for sustainable growth; Three is to support businesses to promote, improve competitiveness, and integrate into the international economy.
In the context of "greening" becoming the new "rules of the game" in domestic and international markets, businesses are forced to transform if they want to survive, develop and integrate into the global market.
According to PNJ representative, to achieve this title, the company has ensured the selection criteria of the organizing committee such as: Complying with environmental protection regulations; Fulfilling obligations to the state and employees; Economic efficiency; Saving raw materials, energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions; Applying digital transformation in management; Management organization; Enterprises have invested in environmental protection work at the unit and community, raising awareness of employees; having environmental protection projects...
In particular, at PNJ, the sustainable development strategy and orientation focus on and revolve around three aspects: Environment, Society and Governance - ESG. ESG goals and plans are integrated into the company's business strategy, thereby, all macro-management strategies, initiatives, production - business, and social activities take ESG as a guideline.
PNJ's ESG strategy closely follows the framework of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GRI standards, Vietnam's sustainable development goals, stakeholder expectations and the company's internal situation. Since 2022, PNJ has adopted the ESG statement: "PNJ acts responsibly to honor the beauty of people and life in a sustainable way."
Mr. Le Tri Thong - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of PNJ shared: “In 2024, PNJ will continue to adhere to the ESG strategy, constantly innovate and create to reach higher, affirm PNJ's position in the domestic market and increase its attractiveness in the international market. We are committed to continuing to bring sustainable values to shareholders, customers and the community”.
In addition to the title "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City", in August, PNJ was also honored in 3 categories E (Environment), S (Society) and G (Governance) at the Top 50 CSA 2024 sustainable development award; Ranked 2nd in the Top 9 private enterprises paying the largest state budget in the distribution - retail sector of the list "Private 100 - Leading Group" with a total budget payment in 2023 of 1,418 billion VND, bringing the budget contribution to nearly 4,500 billion VND in the last 3 years.
