Green production helps businesses increase their competitive advantage, meet modern consumption trends and the strict requirements of domestic and international markets.
In the context of climate change and increasingly urgent environmental issues, the trend of "greening" is becoming one of the important factors in the development strategy of enterprises. Not only is it a social responsibility, greening is also a way for enterprises to increase value, attract customers and improve competitiveness in the market.
Talking to Cong Thuong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thanh - a communication and brand strategy expert, said that "greening" is no longer an option but has become a mandatory requirement for businesses.

"Modern consumers, especially the younger generation, are more concerned about sustainability and corporate responsibility towards the environment. Brands that are at the forefront of 'greening' will have a huge advantage in the market," Mr. Thanh affirmed.
Mr. Thanh cited that in fact, a Nielsen survey also showed that 73% of consumers worldwide are willing to pay higher prices for products with environmental protection commitments. This proves that green production and sustainable branding are not only responsible strategies but also a long-term business advantage.
The expert added that while in the past, import partners were mainly concerned with quality, design, and production standards, now they also set higher requirements for product sustainability.
This not only reflects changes in policies of importing countries but also stems from the real needs of global consumers, who increasingly prioritize environmentally friendly products.
"Importers now pay special attention to the use of green materials, renewable energy sources and environmentally friendly production processes. They expect businesses to not only meet quality standards but also have solutions to minimize negative impacts on the ecosystem," said Mr. Thanh, emphasizing that meeting strict standards from the market will help businesses expand exports, improve competitiveness and build a solid position in the market.
Business transformation
The trend of green production and sustainable development is becoming an important strategy of many businesses. Mr. Tran Quoc Huy - Marketing Director of Moc Chau Dairy Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company said that the business is promoting the implementation of green production models, aiming at sustainable development and environmental protection.
According to Mr. Huy, Moc Chau Milk has implemented many solutions such as optimizing production processes, reducing CO2 emissions, saving energy and limiting plastic waste. The company has switched from diesel forklifts to electric forklifts, and applied recycled plastic in packaging, contributing to reducing pollution. At the same time, investing 1,600 billion VND in a high-tech milk processing plant helps improve production standards, ensuring quality and sustainability.
In the livestock sector, Moc Chau Milk develops dairy cows according to a high-tech model, utilizing by-products to produce Biomass energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
"Switching to green production not only helps optimize costs and increase productivity, but also protects the ecosystem, moving towards a sustainable circular agriculture. This is an important strategy for dairy businesses to develop sustainably in the new era," Mr. Huy emphasized.

Sharing this orientation, Mr. Huynh Thanh Hiep - Head of Quality Control Department, Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company said that the company has been implementing many solutions to optimize production, save energy and protect the environment.
One of the focuses is on water recycling, reusing wastewater after production cycles and minimizing carbon emissions during product processing. In particular, utilizing bagasse to produce clean electricity, not only meeting internal needs but also supplying the national grid, contributing to renewable energy sources. These efforts help businesses save on production costs, while demonstrating responsibility to the community and ecosystem.
According to Mr. Hiep, Quang Ngai Sugar’s units have applied many advanced quality management systems, especially the material flow cost accounting (MFCA) method. This method helps the company optimize production by reducing waste in labor, energy, raw materials and emission costs. Thanks to that, it not only ensures stable product quality, improves productivity but also increases production and business efficiency, minimizing environmental impact.
"In the context of increasingly deep international integration, these steps are an important foundation to help Quang Ngai Sugar develop sustainably and improve its competitiveness in the market," Mr. Hiep affirmed.
Take advantage of challenges to break through
Switching to green production is an inevitable trend, but expert Nguyen Dinh Thanh believes that it cannot be done hastily. The biggest challenge for businesses is the initial investment cost, including upgrading technology, renewing production lines and researching environmentally friendly materials.
In addition, training personnel with expertise in green manufacturing is also very important. As environmental standards become increasingly stringent, businesses need a team with sufficient capacity to operate and optimize production processes in a sustainable manner.
In addition, Mr. Thanh emphasized the importance of a green raw material supply chain. Enterprises need to ensure a stable supply source, avoiding dependence on high-priced raw materials, which affects competitiveness.

From a macroeconomic perspective, economist Associate Professor Dr. Tran Dinh Thien believes that despite facing many challenges, businesses still have great opportunities to develop. He emphasized that if viewed correctly, this is the time for businesses to not only overcome difficulties but also take advantage to break through.
"This is an opportunity to connect more closely with the financial sector, promote green growth and create sustainable business models. As the world moves towards stricter environmental and social responsibility standards, businesses that adapt early will have a clear competitive advantage," said expert Tran Dinh Thien.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien also believes that the approach needs to be harmonious, ensuring both economic growth and sustainable development. It is important that businesses have appropriate strategies and proactively innovate to maximize opportunities in a constantly changing market context.
To contribute to the development of a green economy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been strongly implementing the "National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption for the 2021-2030 period" . The program approaches the product life cycle from exploitation, design, processing, production, consumption, recovery, recycling, reuse and discharge to the environment and aims at a circular economy. |
