On the morning of November 18, at the Ho Chi Minh City Hall, the city government honored 14 excellent teachers and awarded the Vo Truong Toan Award to 50 excellent teachers who have made many contributions to the development of the education and training sector.

On the morning of November 18, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024), honoring 14 outstanding teachers and presenting the Vo Truong Toan Award 2024 to 50 teachers who have made great contributions to the development of the city's education and training sector.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu said that in recent times, the city's education sector has achieved many great achievements, the quality of universal education at all levels has been maintained; there has been a positive shift in general education from mainly equipping knowledge to comprehensively developing learners' qualities and abilities.

"Along with the nobility and glory of the profession are many hardships and heavy responsibilities... We are proud of teachers who are steadfast in upholding the fine traditions of teaching. Teachers quietly overcome difficulties, diligently work, study, practice, and contribute," Mr. Hieu shared.

Sow seeds of love every day

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ngoc Tram, a teacher at Kindergarten 4 (District 3) emotionally recalled the moments in her career. Despite the many difficulties, for Ms. Tram, happiness is when she receives the love of children.

Ms. Tram confided that the teaching profession, especially that of a preschool teacher, is very meaningful. Every day at school is the time when each teacher is sowing seeds of love.

"Although I know that this path will be difficult, but you will receive the love, eyes, and smiles of children, then you will feel the happiness of the profession. The preschool industry is really difficult, patience is something you have to practice every day. I wish you all to always be passionate and love the profession. You and I will make a difference, each step we take will contribute to building a better society," Ms. Tram sent a message to young teachers.

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Dinh Lan Phuong, a teacher at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School, shared that the teaching profession is difficult, and the difficulties of teachers teaching children with disabilities are even more evident. Ms. Phuong always has many expectations and worries about how to make it easier for students to access knowledge.

Ms. Phuong confided: "Each student has a different story. For students with disabilities, there will certainly be times when teachers feel helpless and cry while accompanying them. But remember, even a little progress is considered a success. No matter how developed society is or how advanced technology is, it cannot replace the sacred feelings between teachers and their students."

Like Ms. Phuong, Mr. Do Minh Phung - a teacher at Nguyen Van Phu Secondary School (District 11) always devotes all his heart to his students. He is respectfully called "The Teacher of Medals" by students, parents and colleagues.

According to Mr. Phung, in addition to learning cultural knowledge, training and developing physical health are important for students because they help them develop their mental and physical strength in harmony. Mr. Phung believes that the progress of students in studying and training is the prestige of the teacher and the school.

"Every teacher should be a role model for students to follow. Each of us must continue to study and improve our professional qualifications to meet the new curriculum. At the same time, we need to apply modern technology to make teaching easier," Mr. Phung emphasized.

Gratitude for teachers' tireless contributions

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council acknowledged, praised and expressed gratitude for the contributions of teachers and education managers; and congratulated the achievements that teachers and the city's education and training sector have achieved over the past years.

According to Ms. Le, education is considered by the Party and State as the top national policy, the driving force and foundation for national development. The role of providing high-quality human resources, discovering and nurturing talents is identified as one of three strategic breakthroughs to pave the way and create conditions for development.

Therefore, the requirements of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training require all managers, teachers, staff and students to constantly innovate both in quantity and quality for the common development. Together with the Department of Education and Training to carry out that glorious mission and responsibility, the city's leaders will continue to pay attention, closely direct and create all favorable conditions for education.

In particular, recognizing and praising the contributions of teachers and educational administrators is even more necessary, creating motivation for teachers to continue contributing to the training and fostering of high-quality human resources for the locality and the country.

On this occasion, the Department of Education and Training honored 14 teachers who were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher and 50 managers and teachers who were awarded the Vo Truong Toan Award in 2024. Of which, 50 managers and teachers who were awarded the Vo Truong Toan Award received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
