Never stop creating and innovating
That is the teaching motto of Mr. Ha Son, because according to him, information technology is a field that develops and changes every day. During 18 years of teaching, he has had many outstanding initiatives, typically "Applying Google Form and Microsoft Form in student assessment" and "Using Power Automate to assign online tests via Microsoft Teams system to accurately assess student learning outcomes" which have been widely applied by teachers during the online learning period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I learned about this software before the pandemic broke out. When switching to online learning, I took advantage of new features such as uploading files and images to the test, and integrated the Power Automate system to automatically send questions to each student, ensuring each student had their own test code and set of questions,” Mr. Son shared.
This initiative has supported many teachers at Vo Thi Sau High School and other schools in assigning homework and testing students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to that, both initiatives have been recognized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training, evaluated as excellent initiatives in the education sector and are the hallmark of this year's Vo Truong Toan Award.
“Teachers must be creative first”
Mr. Vo Ngoc Ha Son is the co-author of the 12th grade IT textbook, Creative Horizons, following the 2018 General Education Program. In it, he is in charge of the topic of web programming with an innovative way of doing exercises: instead of answering theoretical questions, students will do a series of projects to create websites, including a yearbook web design project.
The computer science assignment requiring students to design a yearbook website was Mr. Ha Son's idea.
"The new program wants to train students to think creatively, so teachers must be creative first to inspire students' interest and passion for learning," the male teacher shared.
According to Mr. Son, the new textbooks not only follow the curriculum but also need to update modern knowledge about technology and information to equip students with a solid foundation in the new era such as the application of artificial intelligence, communication skills in cyberspace, etc.
During the teaching process, the male teacher often creates unexpected games and challenges to attract students. “Informatics is a subject that requires more practice than theory, so I often create puzzles and solve them with students. Learning together helps students focus and pay more attention during the process,” Mr. Son explained.
Train "fighting chickens" in all 3 blocks, always be ready
For many years, Mr. Vo Ngoc Ha Son has been a teacher who has trained excellent IT students for all 3 grades, preparing them for city competitions, scientific research, the 30/4 Olympics..., contributing to many achievements and medals for the school. He always welcomes students who are interested in IT, creating opportunities for them to develop their passion and skills.
Luu Vo Thien Phuc, a student of class 12A13, has accompanied Mr. Son in IT competitions for the past 3 years. He shared that he used to know nothing about programming or Pascal, but thanks to his teacher's dedicated guidance, he won a bronze medal in the 30.4 Olympic competition last school year. "IT is a subject that requires constant updating of new knowledge and technology, so constantly learning and being patient is the most valuable lesson I learned from my teacher," the male student expressed.
Students commented that Mr. Son is a patient and enthusiastic teacher.
