Grasping the growing trend of online shopping among consumers, many farmers in Binh Duong province have quickly connected with e-commerce platforms and social networks to increase sales revenue, while continuing to maintain business markets at traditional markets.

Currently, Binh Duong province has more than 2,000 organizations and individuals registered to participate in e-commerce platforms and 17,000 organizations and individuals in the agricultural sector have registered accounts to buy and sell on these platforms. The plan to support bringing agricultural production households to e-commerce platforms, promoting the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas in the province has set a goal that by the end of 2025, over 50% of agricultural production households will have digital booths on e-commerce platforms and over 60% of households will have electronic payment accounts. In order to sustainably develop the e-commerce market and promote trade, in 2024, the province will continue to promote the application of information technology and implement digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

Digital transformation contributes to increasing the total agricultural and forestry products in the region. Up to now, Binh Duong province has had 219 products achieving 3-4 star OCOP and consumed on e-commerce platforms. The OCOP program has created positive signals, becoming a driving force for rural economic development. The economic value of products has been increased by 20% or more thanks to meeting OCOP criteria.

Digital technology has brought products to consumers faster, so sales of units have increased from 20% - 50%, of which online sales and e-commerce platforms account for 30%... Strengthening the link to consume agricultural products on the e-commerce technology platform is considered an optimal solution to create new, modern distribution channels.

In addition, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province has issued plans to support bringing agricultural production households to e-commerce platforms, promoting the development of the digital economy of agriculture and rural areas to connect, promote, introduce products, and expand the market. Accordingly, the province's agricultural products have participated in transactions on platforms such as postmart.vn, voso.vn, binhduongtrade.vn, foodmap... It can be seen that expanding the consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms helps to build brands, promote, introduce and expand the market for OCOP products of Binh Duong increasingly strongly.

By taking trade promotion activities as the driving force and digital transformation as the foundation, the OCOP program aims to develop OCOP products effectively and sustainably, especially through connecting with modern distribution channels, in line with changes in consumer and market demand. OCOP entities have proactively applied digital transformation in the stages of production, processing and product promotion, such as applying a traceability system combined with QR codes, and introducing products through social networks.

The results show that digital transformation has helped the agricultural sector in general and producers in particular to promote more widely, increase sales, expand consumption channels, and achieve the goal of bringing local OCOP products to the world market. The leader of the Department of Rural Development of Binh Duong province informed that by 2025, 100% of communes in the province will have products participating in the OCOP program;

Livestreaming (online sales) of OCOP products is an effective way to consume agricultural products in the digital environment.

At the same time, at least 150 entities have registered to participate in the OCOP program; at least 80 products with 3 stars or more are certified as provincial OCOP products, and at least 3 products with 5 stars are certified as national OCOP products. To achieve the above goals, the province has proposed synchronous solutions, focusing on promoting local advantages, forming and developing concentrated commodity production areas, developing products that meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP, HACCP standards, etc., increasing resources and building support mechanisms for entities participating in the OCOP product cycle.

In addition, the provincial agricultural sector also focuses on tracing product origins, granting growing area codes, ensuring quality processes for export, promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation, building a database management system for OCOP products, etc.

At the same time, the industry strengthens the effectiveness of state management, actively promotes to raise awareness of developing OCOP products associated with digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas. To promote digital transformation in all aspects and fields, since 2021, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province has issued Decision No. 816/QD-UBND promulgating the digital transformation plan of Binh Duong province for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030.

Emphasizing digital transformation in the field of high-tech agricultural development towards urban agriculture, smart agriculture, precision agriculture; applying IT and digital technology to agricultural, non-agricultural and service products with advantages in each locality according to the value chain according to the province's OCOP5 program;

Applying digital technology in quality management, traceability, geographical indications, food safety, disease surveillance, guiding and encouraging farmers to implement e-commerce in agriculture focusing on some key products of the province: livestock (chicken, pig), citrus trees, ...; Digital transformation in agricultural management to propose appropriate and timely policies and operations based on market forecasts, warnings, disease warnings, and planning management.

It can be said that expanding the promotion and consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms and social networks in many forms has contributed to helping OCOP products of Binh Duong province get closer and faster to consumers nationwide, aiming at the goal of effective and sustainable development for local OCOP products, meeting the needs of people in the market inside and outside the province.
