Impressive achievements of 12 young talents of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024

(NLDO) - On the afternoon of March 21, 12 young talents were honored and received sponsorship from the City's Young Talent Fund at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House (District 1).

At the ceremony to honor and sponsor young talents in Ho Chi Minh City in 2024, Mr. Doan Kim Thanh - Director of the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Talent Fund - said that this year, the fund received 91 nominations. After a rigorous evaluation process, the 12 most outstanding young talents were approved for sponsorship by the review board. These are individuals representing the fields of study, scientific research, sports, and culture - arts.

"These are not only individuals who are excellent in their profession but also shining examples of the will to improve, sense of responsibility and desire to contribute. International medals, scientific research published in prestigious journals, resounding sports achievements or contributions in the arts, all demonstrate your tireless efforts," Mr. Thanh emphasized.

Young talents share their learning secrets and the process of developing their own talents.

The total amount of support for 12 young talents in 2024 is 240 million VND.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Talent Support Fund Council has decided to sponsor 12 young talents with many outstanding achievements. The total sponsorship amount is 240 million VND, to help young talents cover the costs of studying, researching, training, and competing abroad.

12 young talents include:

1. Hoang Dung Cable, field of study - science and technology

Cap Hoang Dung, a 6A2 student at Saigon Practical High School - Saigon University, is the youngest young talent this year. Dung won first prize in the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Informatics Contest 2024, silver medal at the Titan Vietnam Math Olympiad and the American Math Olympiad. He is also a delegate of the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Council and a representative of Vietnam at the event celebrating 50 years of Vietnam - Canada diplomacy.

2. Duong Kien Khai, field of study - science and technology

Duong Kien Khai is a student at the High School for the Gifted - Ho Chi Minh City National University. Khai has excellent programming skills with first prize in the National Excellent Student in Information Technology, gold medal at the 30-4 Olympics, gold medal at the World Invention Creativity Olympics; selected to participate in the youth exchange on science and technology in Japan in 2025.

3. Sam Pi Dieu, field of study - science and technology

Sam Pi Dieu is a student at the Gifted High School - VNU-HCM. He is a 3-good student at the Central level, first prize in the AI ​​Challenge HCMC, second prize in the National Science and Technology, and the main author of 2 scientific studies published at SOICT 2024 and the AI ​​2024 Conference.

4. Le Ngoc Nam Phuong, field of study - science and technology

As a 10th grade student at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Le Ngoc Nam Phuong won a gold medal at the Canadian Invention Competition and a silver medal at the IOT Olympiad Indonesia. Phuong is a key member of international scientific research projects and a delegate to the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Congress.

5. Nguyen Tuong Van, field of study - science and technology

Nguyen Tuong Van is a student at the University of Health Sciences - VNU-HCM, valedictorian of the class of 2024, won the first prize of Euréka Student Scientific Research, published the research "Application of Machine Learning in predicting lung metastasis in breast cancer patients" on IFMBE Proceedings.

6. Nguyen Quynh Giang, field of study - science and technology

As a student at the University of Health Sciences - VNU-HCM, Nguyen Quynh Giang won the Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award, the Creative Youth badge, and is the main author of the research on the chatbot application to monitor post-COVID-19 symptoms.

7. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc, field of study - science and technology

Nguyen Thi My Ngoc is a student at the University of Technology - VNU-HCM, won the Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award, researched the evaluation of pork quality using multi-color spectral imaging techniques, published in international scientific journals.

8. Huynh Viet Tham, field of study - science and technology

As a researcher at the University of Natural Sciences - VNU-HCM, Huynh Viet Tham has had 19 scientific publications, many of which were published in Q1 and Q2 magazines; he won first prize in the Green Traffic Youth Creativity Contest.

9. Huynh Ha Huu Hieu, field of physical education and sports

Huu Hieu is a Muay Thai athlete from Ho Chi Minh City, won a gold medal at the 2024 World Championship in Greece, and was honored to receive 3 certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

10. Phan Thanh Binh, sports field

Thanh Binh is a Ho Chi Minh City track and field athlete, winning 2 gold medals at the 2024 National Athletics Championship.

11. Nguyen Van Nghiep, field of culture and arts

Nguyen Van Nghiep is a member of the Executive Board of the Don Ca Tai Tu Club - Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Center, won the gold medal at the "Tieng hat hen 9 dong song" performance in 2024, and has many contributions to preserving Southern culture.

12. Ho Thien Phuoc, field of culture and arts

A piano bachelor from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Ho Thien Phuoc won first prize in the Autumn Music Competition and the Ho Chi Minh City Piano Competition; and is a typical artist in 2023.

The Ho Chi Minh City Young Talent Support Fund was established in 1993 to gather social resources to care for and nurture young talents in the fields of: study, teaching, culture - arts, physical education - sports and science and technology to be recognized and honored by the community and society, giving them the conditions to develop their talents and gifts.
