On November 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024) to honor outstanding teachers and present the Vo Truong Toan Award in 2024.
Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training presented certificates of merit and awards to outstanding teachers.
This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training honored 14 outstanding teachers and awarded the 2024 Vo Truong Toan Award to 50 teachers who have made many contributions to the development of the education and training sector.
In addition, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee awarded the City Emulation Flag to 14 collectives with outstanding achievements in the 2023-2024 school year, with leading achievements in the block of Departments of Education and Training and affiliated units, actively contributing to the city's emulation movement.
At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "We do education and training work not only to bring our students scientific knowledge and foster their abilities, but also have the responsibility to help them practice ethics and form noble qualities. Teachers care for, look after, and love students with all their hearts and tolerance and generosity; awaken potential, arouse and develop inner strength in students; guide students to learn by themselves, to research, to explore, so that students can develop their thinking and intelligence, and constantly improve their personalities. And also in the work ofeducating students, we are perfecting ourselves every day; cultivating ethics, maintaining teachers' ethics; standard attitudes and behaviors must be enough to set an example for students".
The head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training added: "In reality, sometimes, sometimes, somewhere there are still phenomena of parents being upset with teachers, society not being satisfied with education, teachers' honor sometimes being hurt. Along with the nobility and glory of the profession are many hardships, heavy responsibilities, challenges, and pressures. We are proud of teachers who are steadfast in upholding the fine traditions of teachers; teachers who quietly overcome difficulties, diligently work, study, practice, and contribute to the training career of the school, the education sector, and the country. The quality of education is not only reflected in the results of excellent student exams, high school graduation exams, and annual training performance, but also in the joy and love of going to school of students. Although each level of education has its own difficulties and hardships, teachers have made constant efforts and creativity. There have been many teachers who are shining examples of moral qualities, have professional competence and responsibility for the profession; constantly innovate and create, achieve excellent results in teaching and patriotic emulation movements".
Attending the ceremony to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and present the Vo Truong Toan Award, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, said: "Among thousands of teachers who have worked and are working in Ho Chi Minh City, each has contributed in their own way to the cause of education and training. Teachers have overcome difficulties to rise up, are shining examples of ethics, dedication and sacrifice for the profession.
Many teachers have devoted their youth, persistently and steadfastly, to working with students with disabilities. In addition, there are security guards, medical staff, or other indirect staff in educational institutions, education and training departments... who are trying day and night to fulfill their roles and responsibilities for the common cause of education, for the future of future generations."
The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that the city's leaders will continue to pay attention, closely direct and create all favorable conditions for education. In particular, recognizing and praising the contributions of teachers and educational managers is even more necessary, creating motivation for teachers to continue to contribute to training and fostering high-quality human resources for the locality and the country.
