France is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in strategic transport projects.

Believing that the Vietnam-France relationship has many predestined relationships and characteristics, has experienced many ups and downs, breakthroughs and is currently developing very positively and well, the two sides share many common views and values, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that this visit of the Minister will promote transport cooperation between Vietnam and France, bring about concrete results, contribute to further promoting the new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established during the official visit to France in October 2024 by General Secretary and President To Lam.

On this occasion, recalling the good impressions during his official visit to France in 2021, the Prime Minister conveyed the greetings and regards of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and the Prime Minister himself to French President Emmanuel Macron; saying that Vietnam wants to welcome the French President to visit Vietnam soon.

Prime Minister and Minister Philippe Tabarot highly appreciated the good results that the two countries have achieved in the field of transportation in recent times, which is also a field with a long history in the relationship between the two countries with the North-South railway line, a number of airports... in Vietnam still being exploited.

Currently, Airbus is the largest aircraft supplier for Vietnamese airlines; railway cooperation is a traditional field with projects that have been and are being implemented, such as the urban railway project from Nhon to Hanoi Railway Station, which has put the elevated section into operation...

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is focusing on strongly developing transport infrastructure, considering this one of three strategic breakthroughs with many large projects, including all five types (road, railway, aviation, maritime, inland waterway).

Developing transport infrastructure will create new development space, new industrial parks, urban areas, and services, reduce logistics costs (currently accounting for 17-18% of Vietnam's GDP), and enhance the competitiveness of products, goods, and the economy.

Vietnam is also stepping up efforts to remove institutional difficulties and obstacles to quickly implement projects with the spirit of valuing time, intelligence and determination.

Believing that the economies of the two countries can complement each other, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides inherit and promote the achievements they have made, and continue to promote cooperation in the spirit of sincerity, trust, feasibility and efficiency.

Appreciating France's strengths in the field of transportation and the huge room for cooperation, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam highly encourages, always welcomes and suggests that France promote French enterprises to strengthen cooperation and investment in Vietnam in the fields of transportation, especially participating in large infrastructure projects; including promoting Airbus to cooperate and transfer technology with Vietnamese airlines to open aircraft repair and maintenance facilities (hangars) at airports; cooperate in developing aviation economy, exploiting outer space, underground space, and sea space; implementing railway and seaport projects, bringing in more large ships, opening more direct transport routes to Vietnam; public-private cooperation in developing roads, etc.

Along with that, France promotes cooperation in human resource training, technology transfer, management capacity improvement, preferential loans... with Vietnam in the field of transportation.

For his part, Minister Philippe Tabarot said that French President Macron highly appreciated the relationship with Vietnam; sent greetings and regards to the Prime Minister and wished to visit Vietnam soon.

Sharing his good impressions of Vietnam, the efforts and achievements of innovation and development of Vietnam in recent times, the Minister agreed with the Prime Minister's opinion on the relationship between the two countries and promoting relations in the field of transportation more and more effectively.

Announcing the results of the work with the Ministry of Construction, the Minister said that during this visit, the French side chaired and coordinated with the Ministry of Construction to organize the Vietnam-France Workshop on high-speed railway.

The Minister emphasized that France has strengths in the field of transportation, affirming that France and French enterprises are always ready to cooperate with Vietnam, especially in supporting and cooperating in implementing strategic transport infrastructure projects, as well as cooperating in human resource training, exchanging experiences, learning from each other, and creating better quality products and services to serve the people, connecting the two countries.
