The Vietnamese girls started better when they took the lead 3/0 then 6/1 but the home team Thailand excellently equalized 6/6 and then compared the scores. The gap of 11/8 was created by the Vietnamese players but then the opponent rose up to lead 12/11. Playing with great courage at the decisive moment, the Vietnamese girls rose up to win the final 13/12, bursting with joy to win the gold medal.
In addition to the historic gold medal in the women's trio event, athlete Thach Thi Anh Lan of Tra Vinh also won a silver medal in the individual technical event after losing to the Myanmar team in the final.
