In this year's season, Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards had the best start in the history of the S-shaped country. Starting at the first World Cup tour in 2024 taking place in Bogota (Colombia), Tran Quyet Chien "opened like a dream" for Vietnam when he excellently defeated Sameh Sidhom (Egypt) to win the championship for the 3rd time at the World Cup tournaments on March 4 (Vietnam time).

After the victory in Colombia 3 weeks ago, Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh continued to help Vietnamese billiards win the World Team Championship for the first time in Germany. Entering the 2nd World Cup tour of the year in Ho Chi Minh City, 43-year-old player from Dong Nai Tran Minh Duc unexpectedly won the championship after a 50-46 victory over Kim Jun-tae (Korea) in the final match.

Tran Quyet Chien's achievements in the world arena are not surprising as the 40-year-old player has always been in the top group for many years. However, Tran Duc Minh's achievements and Bao Phuong Vinh's 2023 world championship have surprised experts. Player Tran Duc Minh won the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup with the 415th position in the world while young player from Binh Duong Bao Phuong Vinh won the world championship in his first participation.

Tran Duc Minh became the second Vietnamese player to win the World Cup. He was awarded 16,000 euros. Duc Minh shared: "I was quite comfortable mentally entering the final because I knew my opponent Kim Jun-tae was extremely strong. He played very well and played a very long series. While waiting, I was nervous thinking that if Kim scored enough points, I would have to accept defeat. On the contrary, if I had a chance, I would not let the opportunity slip away but would try to resolve the match as quickly as possible. When I won, I was extremely proud and happy. With the achievements this year, Tran Quyet Chien is leading the World Cup rankings with 98 points and Tran Duc Minh is second with 80 points. However, Vietnamese billiards fans are regretful that Tran Quyet Chien has not been able to reach the world number 1 position in the rankings of events organized by UMB (World Cup and World Championship) and the rankings of tournaments under the UMB system (World Cup, World Championship, national championship, continental championship).
