From the 2025 high school graduation exam, candidates will not be allowed to bring the Vietnam Geography Atlas into the exam room. A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training has explained this.
In recent years, candidates have been allowed to bring Atlases into the high school graduation exam room during the geography exam, which is an "advantage" when taking the exam in this subject. However, according to the regulations applied from this year's exam, candidates are not allowed to bring Geography Atlases into the exam room.
From the 2025 high school graduation exam, candidates will not be allowed to bring geography atlases into the exam room.
Speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, a leader of the Department of Education Management (Ministry of Education and Training) explained two basic reasons: first, unlike before when there was only the Atlas of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, now there are many types of Atlas, making it difficult to compile exam questions.
Second, the exam regulations from 2025 have increased the score of the learning process in high school to 50%, many skills (including using Atlas) have been trained during the learning process.
Thus, the tools that candidates are allowed to bring into the examination room include: pens; rulers; pencils; erasers; squares; graphing rulers; drawing tools; handheld calculators without word processing function and without memory cards.
Prohibited items to bring into the examination room/waiting room include: carbon paper, correction pens, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosives, flammable substances; documents, communication or information storage devices.
Ministry of Education and Training announces new points in exam questions and scores for 2025 high school graduation exam
However, for candidates studying under the 2006 general education program who have not graduated and taking the high school graduation exam this year, the Ministry of Education and Training will still organize the development of a set of exam questions according to the 2006 general education program (similar to the exam questions in 2024 and previous years) for this group.
The organization of the exam for candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 general education program will be kept stable as in 2024, so candidates can still use the Atlas when taking the geography exam (in the social science combination exam).
Note on candidate responsibilities
The leader of the Department of Quality Management said that the regulations on candidate responsibilities will remain stable as previously prescribed, most specifically for the years 2023 and 2024.
However, candidates should note that when taking the optional exam, they must be present from the beginning of the exam and can only leave when the optional exam time is over (after both optional exams have finished). For example, previously, candidates who only took the second exam in the optional exam could arrive 15 minutes before the second exam time. However, from 2025, candidates must arrive from the beginning of the exam.
Candidates studying the 2018 general education program can only register for subjects from the subjects they studied in grade 12. Candidates with foreign language certificates that meet the requirements are still allowed to use them to exempt themselves from the exam, but they cannot be converted into 10 points in the graduation recognition consideration as before.
In addition, candidates will not be awarded vocational points as before, this is done according to the design of the new general education program.
Do not submit your work before the end of the test.
Among the subjects of this year's high school graduation exam, only literature will be tested in essay format; the remaining subjects will be tested in objective multiple-choice format. To ensure the best results, candidates should pay attention to the regulations related to the objective multiple-choice test process.
One of the important rules that candidates need to remember when taking objective tests is that they must not submit their test papers before the end of the test time. When the test time is over, candidates must submit their answer sheets to the invigilator and sign the test receipt. Candidates must fill in the blanks at the top of the answer sheet correctly and completely.
Candidates may only leave the examination room after the invigilator has checked all the answer sheets in the room and given permission to leave. In case of any unusual incident, candidates must strictly follow the instructions of the invigilator and those in charge at the examination site.
The 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to take place at the end of June.
