According to the report at the Conference to review the Information and Communications work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024, the Information and Communications Industry has achieved positive results in many aspects, especially in the field of digital transformation.

The Minister of Information and Communications introduced more about the book "Digital Transformation Summary - Strategy & Roadmap".

Accordingly, the total revenue of the IT&T industry is estimated at VND 2,067,389 billion, up 27% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 50% of the 2024 plan. The state budget contribution is estimated at VND 59,847 billion, up 25.8% over the same period last year and estimated to reach 61% of the 2024 plan. The contribution to GDP of the IT&T industry is estimated at VND 476,933 billion, up 22.5% over the same period last year and estimated to reach 49% of the 2024 plan. The total number of employees in the industry as of June 2024 is estimated at about 1,530,528, up 1.3% over the same period last year.

In addition, regarding the work of advising, proposing management, direction and operation, the Ministry has completed and submitted to the Government a dossier proposing the development of the Press Law (amended). Advised the Government to issue Decree No. 49/2024/ND-CP dated May 10, 2024 regulating grassroots information activities. Completed and submitted to the Government for approval the draft Decree replacing Decree 72/2013/ND-CP and Decree 27/2018/ND-CP on management, provision and use of Internet services and online information. Regarding the orientation for the last 6 months of the year, in the field of press and media, the Ministry of Information and Communications will continue to research and develop the Press Law (amended) when the project is approved in the Law-making Program in 2025. Develop and promulgate a Decree regulating royalties in the field of press and publishing. Deploy and organize the implementation of Decree No. 49/2024/ND-CP regulating grassroots information activities. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung awarded certificates of merit to 03 press agencies and 06 individuals from press agencies with outstanding achievements in information and propaganda work in the information and communication sector.

In addition, the Ministry will strengthen the direction, orientation, and management of information on the network environment, orient the development and production of positive content on the network; Strengthen the scanning, prevention, and timely handling of bad, toxic information, information that violates the law, and false information on social networks, especially cross-border social networks. Increase the response rate, the number of blocking and removing content, accounts, pages, channels, and groups to the highest level. Guide localities to establish and operate fake news processing centers in localities, forming a national network for handling fake news and toxic information. Enhance the operational efficiency of the Vietnam Fake News and Toxic Information Processing Center. Coordinate the development of tools to scan bad, toxic information on social networks in terms of images and videos to serve the scanning and monitoring of information content on the network, livestream, and advertising. Continue to organize the Communication Campaign to raise awareness of network users and civilized behavior on the Internet; Directing and adjusting advertising money flow to press agencies, social networks, electronic information sites, pages, channels, and accounts of domestic organizations and individuals that have been licensed or registered to operate with the Ministry of Information and Communications (advertising on white lists, blocking black list ads)...

Journalist Nguyen Thi Van (pen name: Ha Van) - Head of the Association's Working Committee - Press and Communication, Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper was awarded a certificate of merit by the Minister of Information and Communications for her outstanding achievements in information and propaganda work.

Also at the Conference, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution introduced the book “Digital Transformation Summary - Strategy & Roadmap”. This publication is expected to be a useful handbook, providing important knowledge and orientation for the national digital transformation process.

Speaking at the Conference, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung acknowledged and commended the positive results of the Information and Communications sector in the first 6 months of the year. At the same time, the Minister also emphasized that in the context of many complicated fluctuations in the world and domestic situation, the Information and Communications sector needs to continue to promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, innovation, and determination to excellently complete the goals and tasks set out in the last 6 months of 2024. Specifically, the Information and Communications sector will focus on promoting national digital transformation, developing the digital economy, building a digital society; at the same time, strengthening state management of press, publishing, and information on cyberspace.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung especially emphasized digital transformation, he said that in digital transformation, it is necessary to focus on piloting and then popularizing. Piloting should be focused, focusing on where breakthroughs can be created, paying attention to the way of doing things, support and policy evaluation. After the pilot is successful, it should be quickly popularized nationwide. This stage needs to set goals, quality standards... and only manage according to goals, at the same time, this is also the stage to evaluate cadres on implementation capacity. "The value of digital transformation increases exponentially, only when popularized can the success of digital transformation and the value brought by digital transformation be determined", Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.
