According to the report at the Conference to review the Information and Communications work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024, the Information and Communications Industry has achieved positive results in many aspects, especially in the field of digital transformation.

Accordingly, the total revenue of the IT&T industry is estimated at VND 2,067,389 billion, up 27% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 50% of the 2024 plan. The state budget contribution is estimated at VND 59,847 billion, up 25.8% over the same period last year and estimated to reach 61% of the 2024 plan. The contribution to GDP of the IT&T industry is estimated at VND 476,933 billion, up 22.5% over the same period last year and estimated to reach 49% of the 2024 plan. The total number of employees in the industry as of June 2024 is estimated at about 1,530,528, up 1.3% over the same period last year.

Also at the Conference, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution introduced the book “Digital Transformation Summary - Strategy & Roadmap”. Speaking at the Conference, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung acknowledged and commended the positive results of the Information and Communications sector in the first 6 months of the year. At the same time, the Minister also emphasized that in the context of many complicated fluctuations in the world and domestic situation, the Information and Communications sector needs to continue to promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, innovation, and determination to excellently complete the goals and tasks set out in the last 6 months of 2024. Specifically, the Information and Communications sector will focus on promoting national digital transformation, developing the digital economy, building a digital society; at the same time, strengthening state management of press, publishing, and information on cyberspace.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung especially emphasized digital transformation, he said that in digital transformation, it is necessary to focus on piloting and then popularizing. Piloting should be focused, focusing on where breakthroughs can be created, paying attention to the way of doing things, support and policy evaluation. After the pilot is successful, it should be quickly popularized nationwide.
