Kinhtedothi - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, investors and contractors to be more determined and make more efforts to meet the schedule of completing projects in the list of 3,000 km of expressways by 2025.
Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway ahead of schedule
On the afternoon of March 12, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long led a working delegation to inspect the construction progress of two expressway projects, Van Phong - Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot (component project 1).
According to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project is 83.35 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 11,808 billion. The project started on January 1, 2023 and was completed according to the contract in December 2025.
To date, the project has completed more than 70 km (from Km298 to the end of the route at Km368+350). The project's construction output has reached more than 91%, about 11% ahead of schedule compared to the contract.
Currently, Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) - the project investor is urgently directing contractors to speed up the construction progress of the remaining 13 km at the beginning of the route; to soon complete the project on April 30, 8 months ahead of schedule according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
For the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project (section through Khanh Hoa province, 31.5 km long) with a total investment of VND 5,333 billion, construction started in June 2023; striving to complete the first 20 km of the route in 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister, the remaining section to be completed in 2026.
Up to now, Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee has handed over 28.69 km (91.1%) of the site for actual construction on site with an area of 210 hectares (92%). Currently, the project still has 16 sections of land, including 12 sections through areas with houses on land that must be resettled and 4 sections through areas without resettlement.
The leader of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Agricultural and Transport Works of Khanh Hoa Province (project investor) said that up to now, the construction package No. 1, 22 km long (section Km0+00 to Km22+00), has constructed nearly 20 km of roadbed and drainage culverts, completed 12/12 bridges, reaching 48.26% of the contract value.
Construction Package No. 2, 9.5 km long (section Km22+00 to Km32+00), has completed the construction of the roadbed and drainage culvert for 8.4 km, completed 6/6 bridges, and the progress has reached 26.53% of the contract value. Construction Package No. 3, the construction of the bridge at Km30 and Cua Dong bridge, has reached 4.48% of the contract value.
Regarding land acquisition and clearance problems within the 20 km section of the 3,000 km expressway to be completed by the end of 2025 as set by the Prime Minister, it is expected that land acquisition and clearance will be completed before March 30, 2025.
Currently, construction units are striving to complete the first 20 km of the route by the end of 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister; the remaining section will be completed in 2026.
Speed up projects
After the field inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long worked with Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces to review and remove difficulties and obstacles related to key transport projects.
At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of Construction and the People's Committees of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces reported on the progress as well as difficulties and obstacles in the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway projects and the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project (component project 1 and component project 3) and the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway project.
Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh said that the highways coming into operation will open up great opportunities for socio-economic development, creating jobs for local people.
For the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, Khanh Hoa province has made efforts to hand over the site early, contributing to the project being 6 months ahead of schedule. The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project is currently still stuck with site clearance issues, but the province has directed Ninh Hoa town to find a solution and hand over the site by the end of March 2025.
At the meeting, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh also said that Khanh Hoa has proactively registered for double-digit growth in 2025 and the coming period. To achieve the set goal, Khanh Hoa hopes that the Government will soon approve the Nha Trang - Da Lat expressway project; and study and approve the addition of Van Phong airport to the national airport system.
At the same time, it is recommended that ministries and branches pay attention to considering and providing guidance for Khanh Hoa province to complete the dossiers to adjust land use targets for the period up to 2030, creating conditions for socio-economic development.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long commended the efforts of the locality, investors and contractors in site clearance and construction, especially the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the projects still face some difficulties, such as the construction progress of component projects 1 and 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway and the Chi Thanh - Van Phong section has not met expectations.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities and units to be more determined; investors to direct consultants and contractors to re-establish the overall construction schedule and detailed construction schedule in accordance with actual conditions of materials, weather, along with human resources, construction machinery and equipment, and financial resources to organize construction in 3 shifts and 4 teams to ensure the completion of projects as committed...
At the same time, strengthen inspection and closely monitor construction quality. During construction, ensure traffic safety, labor safety, environmental sanitation; fight corruption, negativity, and waste.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that for the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway component project, it is necessary to strive to complete all related procedures to hand over and put into operation the last 70 km of the route on April 30, 2025.
