According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the regions from tonight (March 12) to March 22 will have many fluctuations due to the impact of a cold air mass that will arrive around the evening of March 15.

Meteorological experts say this cold air mass is likely to only cause rain in the northern and north central provinces on March 16, then turn cold and dry until March 19 with sunshine.

From March 17-19, when cold air continues to move south, areas from Hue to Khanh Hoa and the Central Highlands will have scattered rain.

Specifically, from tonight to March 15, the Northwest region will maintain a pattern of rain in some places, early morning there will be scattered fog and light fog, sunny in the afternoon; in the Northwest region from tonight to March 14, in the evening and at night there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms; during the day it will be sunny, with some places being hot.

Around the evening and night of March 15, when cold air flows in, the area will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, followed by rain in some places; from March 16, the weather is likely to turn cold.

For the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa, from now until March 15, there will continue to be light rain, drizzle and fog at night and in the morning; sunny in the afternoon of March 15. In the evening and night of March 15, cold air will flow in, this region will have rain, scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places; later there will be rain in some places, sunny during the day; from the night of March 15, the weather will turn cold; ending the prolonged humid situation.

From Nghe An to Hue from tonight to March 14, the North will have rain in some places, early morning there will be scattered fog and light fog, from March 14 noon and afternoon it will be sunny; the South will have showers and thunderstorms in some places, sunny in the afternoon.

From around the night of March 15-16, the North Central region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, followed by rain in some places; from March 16, the weather will turn cold.

From Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, and sunny during the day. From the night of March 15 to 19, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places.

In addition, other areas will have showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, and sunny days, with some hot spots in the Central Highlands and the South. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

According to the meteorological agency, from March 16 to 18, unseasonal rains will continue to appear in Long An, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and scattered in the Mekong Delta.

In a further forecast, the meteorological agency assessed the weather from March 11 to April 10. Accordingly, the average temperature in the Northern region and from Thanh Hoa to Hue will generally be 0.5-1 degree lower than the average of many years in the same period; other places will be at approximately the same level.

Notably, in March, heat waves continued to appear in the Southern region (concentrated in the Eastern provinces) and appeared locally in the Northwest, North Central, and Central Highlands. In April, heat waves tended to increase in these regions.

Also in March, cold air is likely to be more active than the average of many years, however, the continental cold high pressure center tends to shift east, causing many days of light rain, drizzle and fog in the Northeast and North Central regions. In April, cold air tends to weaken.

In addition, during the forecast period, the Central region is likely to experience some days of showers and thunderstorms. The Central Highlands and the South may experience unseasonal thunderstorms. Total rainfall in the South and some areas of the Central Central region is forecast to be 10-20mm higher than the average for the same period in many years, with some places being higher; other places across the country will be 15-25mm lower.
