General Secretary meets former Singaporean Prime Minister, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong

(NLDO)- General Secretary To Lam met and discussed with former Prime Minister, Senior Minister, Senior Advisor of the People's Action Party of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.


The meeting took place on the afternoon of March 12 in Singapore on the occasion of General Secretary To Lam's official visit to Singapore.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated Singapore, under the leadership of the People's Action Party, the Singaporean Government and former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong over the past many years, for achieving many great strides in socio-economic development, making Singapore one of the leading financial, technological and innovation centers in the region, with an increasing position and role in the international arena.

The General Secretary affirmed that Singapore has always been a close friend and leading partner of Vietnam in many fields, including economics, trade, investment, security and defense. The General Secretary affirmed that Singapore's experiences and successful lessons are a great source of inspiration and motivation for Vietnam to strive to achieve its strategic development goals.

The General Secretary thanked Mr. Lee Hsien Loong for his direct contributions in his previous capacity as Prime Minister of Singapore, which helped create a solid foundation for the bilateral relationship; affirmed that the two sides' official upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership would create a new impetus to strongly promote bilateral relations, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

Former Prime Minister and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong was pleased to meet again and highly appreciated General Secretary To Lam's official visit to Singapore; affirming that the relationship between the two countries has made strong progress, from a strategic partnership and now upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Pleased with the results of the talks this morning between General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as well as the signing of nine cooperation agreements in many fields such as science and technology, renewable energy, etc., Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his joy at the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in all important areas of cooperation between the two countries. Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong firmly believes that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop strongly in the coming time.

Pleased with the remarkable developments in all areas of Vietnam-Singapore cooperation, General Secretary To Lam and Mr. Lee Hsien Loong discussed directions to deepen the bilateral relationship in the new development period, commensurate with the framework of the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including strengthening coordination to promote cooperation between the two ruling parties through promoting exchange activities, delegation exchanges, and sharing experiences in national management and development.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited Minister Lee Hsien Loong to visit Vietnam again soon and Mr. Lee Hsien Loong happily accepted.
