Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long: Synchronously complete Van Phong expressway

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested investors and contractors to increase construction teams and synchronously complete more than 83km of the North-South expressway, Van Phong - Nha Trang section, before June 30, 2025.

This afternoon (March 12), Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long led a working delegation to inspect the construction site of the North-South Expressway project, Van Phong - Nha Trang section.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long listened to the leader of Project Management Board 7 report on the implementation of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project.

After inspecting the site and listening to the investor's report, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the contractors' efforts in implementing the construction in unfavorable weather conditions, making efforts to complete the 70km project many months ahead of schedule.

"I commend the investor's leadership of the contractors, the local authorities' drastic participation in site clearance and resettlement for households in the project area," the Deputy Prime Minister noted, and noted that for the 70km that will be opened to traffic on April 30, the investor and contractor need to complete the traffic safety system and service roads to ensure safety when put into operation.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that for the remaining 13km, investors and contractors need to focus on directing and strengthening construction to ensure the entire expressway is opened before June 30.

The construction of rest stops needs to be carried out quickly to promptly construct and put into use in sync with the exploitation process of the expressway.

Informing the working delegation, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, said that the site clearance work for the project construction has reached consensus of the people. The locality is directing the authorities to remove existing obstacles and hand over the remaining sites as soon as possible.

Construction output exceeds plan

Reporting to Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, the leader of Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) said that currently, at the construction site, contractors have mobilized human resources and equipment in accordance with progress requirements with 14 construction teams with 446 workers and 276 pieces of equipment of all kinds.

Up to now, 70km of Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway has been completed, ready to open to traffic on April 30.

The cumulative construction output to date has reached over VND6,500 billion, reaching 91% of the construction value according to the contract, exceeding the plan by 11%. Over 70km of the project length has been basically completed.

Regarding the construction site of the rest stop, according to the investor, the locality has handed over 6/6.9 hectares (89%) to the investor.

Within the available land, the investor will start construction of the station entrance, parking area, and temporary restrooms before April 30 (to be put into use together with the expressway). The remaining items will be completed in December 2025.

The Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway has just been built through Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province.

"As for the first 13km section of the route (from Km 285+000 - Km 298+000) constructed by Hai Dang Joint Stock Company and VNCN E&C, which has not been completed, Project Management Board 7 is resolutely directing contractors to complete the project by April 30," informed the leader of Project Management Board 7.

The North-South expressway project, Van Phong - Nha Trang section, has a total length of more than 83km.

Starting point at Km 285+000, connecting the southern entrance road of Co Ma tunnel (Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province).

The end point is at Km 368+350, connecting the starting point of the expressway section Nha Trang - Cam Lam (Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province).

Total investment is nearly 12,000 billion VND. Project investor is Project Management Board 7.
