Kinhtedothi - On March 12, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish and launch SBV Region 9, including 5 provinces and cities: Da Nang, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.
Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 6th Central Conference, Session XII on innovation, reorganization of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient, the State Bank has completed the reorganization of the system of 63 provincial and municipal State Bank branches into 15 regional State Bank branches. This is to ensure strict management of payment activities, monetary security, treasury and effective implementation of the functions of the Central Bank for the economy.
Of which, SBV Region 9 is headquartered in Da Nang, with Mr. Le Anh Xuan as Director. The Deputy Directors include: Mr. Vo Minh, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dong, Mr. Pham Trong, Mr. Dinh Van Cong and Mr. Pham Ba Nam.
After the arrangement, the total number of civil servants and workers in this area is 203 people, down from 226 people before; the number of managers and leaders has decreased from 63 to 29 people.
The organizational structure of the State Bank of Vietnam Region 9 includes 5 functional departments: Regional State Bank Inspectorate; General Department; Management and Supervision Department; Accounting - Payment Department; Currency - Treasury Department and Administration - Personnel Department.
According to Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Pham Tien Dung, Region 9 is an important coastal economic zone with the potential to connect and develop with dynamic economic centers in the country and internationally. This is also a region rich in mineral resources, with strengths in aquaculture, wind and wave energy - important factors for developing the marine economy and clean energy industry.
In particular, Da Nang city is in the process of establishing a Free Trade Zone and a Regional Financial Center. The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is the first model in the country, integrating the functions of seaport and airport logistics with commercial activities, services, export processing industry and other auxiliary functions. The total natural area of this zone is about 2,348 hectares, located in 10 non-adjacent locations, connected to Lien Chieu seaport and Da Nang international airport. The formation of a functional area under the Da Nang Free Trade Zone in the reclaimed sea area will create favorable conditions for attracting investment and linking with major shipping and port exploitation corporations in the world - a prerequisite for developing Lien Chieu seaport into an international transit port.
At the same time, Da Nang is also building a regional financial center to attract large financial, commercial, investment, and technology institutions and management, supervision, and dispute resolution agencies of the financial center to set up headquarters/offices.
The establishment of the State Bank of Vietnam Region 9 not only contributes to improving the effectiveness of State management in the financial and banking sector but also creates a driving force to promote socio-economic development in the Central region. This is an important step in the administrative reform, streamlining the apparatus, meeting the requirements of national development in the new period.
