It is not just the rugged border terrain and harsh weather conditions that are difficult and dangerous, but the sophisticated and daring methods and tricks of smugglers.

Sugar smugglers often operate at night; they are ready to deal with the authorities and anyone who might interfere with their operations, including journalists. Therefore, the crew had to be cautious in every step of their work.

And these are important materials for the investigative report Smuggled sugar continues to destroy the domestic market to be completed, with a duration of 3 minutes and 30 seconds, broadcast as planned”, Journalist Nguyen Nhung added and said that after ANTV reported and broadcast this report (June 2024), the functional forces actively took action; smuggling activities at the Lao Bao border gate area stopped completely for more than a month - an unprecedented reality in the hottest smuggling area in the Central region.

Telling more about the memories of the days hiding in the border area, Journalist Nguyen Nhung said that the whole crew had to find a motel quite far from the border gate because they were afraid of being hunted down and discovered by smugglers and their henchmen.

“During those days, our information was leaked many times and all smuggling activities continued to subside. There were many days when the whole crew had to return to the motel without collecting anything. While working on the Lao side, we also encountered many difficulties to approach and collect vivid images of smuggling activities of this item,” Journalist Nguyen Nhung shared.
