At noon on November 24, the Standing Office of the Quang Ngai Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue quickly reported on the response to heavy rain in the area.
Accordingly, from November 22 to 24, in Quang Ngai there was heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall measured at some stations such as Ba Dien Station 664mm, Tra Thanh 650mm, Ba Giang 458mm, Ba Lien 471mm, Hanh Tin Tay 356mm, Pho Phong 419mm, Duc Phong 270mm, Hanh Dung 271mm, Son Nham 298mm.
Due to heavy rain, floods on rivers are rising rapidly, such as Tra Cau River at Tra Cau station 5.67m (0.17m above alarm level 3), Ve River at Song Ve station 4.14m (0.64m above alarm level 2) and currently floods on some rivers continue to rise.
According to the report, heavy rain and rising river water caused culverts such as Thach Nham, Siphon Song Ve, and Cau Mang Hanh Dung-Hanh Nhan to be deeply flooded, about 15m of Tra Cau river embankment was destroyed. Currently, functional forces are deploying traffic guidance and placing warning signs.
Prolonged heavy rain caused about 70 households in Quang Ngai to be flooded.
In particular, from the afternoon and night of November 23 to the morning of November 24, some traffic routes in Duc Pho town were flooded up to 50cm, causing 70 houses to be flooded. In this situation, the authorities organized support to evacuate some households in low-lying areas to safe locations.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quang Ngai province has asked localities to deploy measures to respond to heavy rains that pose a risk of landslides, flash floods in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying areas.
At the same time, localities must review residential areas at risk of flooding and landslides, and be ready to deploy plans to evacuate people to safety.
