On February 22, Quang Ngai Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital announced that it had successfully removed a foreign object, a soft drink can lid, from the stomach of an 11-year-old boy.
The lid of a soft drink can was taken from the boy's stomach.
Earlier, on the same morning, the hospital received a case of a child patient who was brought to the emergency room by his family in a state of choking and chest pain.
Through clinical examination, X-ray, and ultrasound of the chest and abdomen, the doctor determined that there was a foreign object in the child's digestive tract.
The patient was transferred to the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department to perform a procedure to remove the foreign body. Here, doctors and nurses removed the aluminum cap of a soft drink can from the patient's stomach.
The hospital representative said that the process of removing the foreign object was difficult because the aluminum cap had many sharp corners, causing pain, scratches and bleeding in the patient's esophagus and stomach.
Currently, the patient's health is stable and is being monitored by doctors.
