Bac Lieu Photography: Forever Burning Passion

With all the passion and above all the love for the homeland, the Bac Lieu photography team has not hesitated to step forward, diligently searching for new and beautiful things to create many valuable works of art. These creations not only help the photographers bring high achievements to the field of photography but also meet the public's need for cultural enjoyment, contributing to promoting the beautiful image of Bac Lieu to friends near and far.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Huynh Quoc Viet presented awards to the winners of the Salt Art Photo Contest within the framework of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival 2025.

Among the specialties under the Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, there are few fields with as diverse a membership as photography. Apart from a few people specializing in this field, most of the remaining members are self-employed, retired officials, professional soldiers, civil servants, etc. It is this passion that has created a “string” connecting people of different ages and occupations to the art of photography to contribute beautiful moments to life.

During the days before and during the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2025, many people saw Mr. Vu Thanh - a member of the Provincial Photography Association often "camping" at the locations where activities were taking place to create photos. Over 70 years old, his eyesight is also poor and his movements are no longer as agile as before, but all of that could not stop the passion for creation of this veteran photographer. He took many photos during the Festival because he wanted to capture moments of the event honoring the salt making profession and salt grains to serve the art photo exhibition.

During the war, Bac Lieu art in general and photography in particular were proud to have the late photographer Vo An Khanh with a huge legacy of works that have stood the test of time. Immersing himself in the nation's war and despite the fierce bombs of the enemy, he, along with his camera and passionate patriotism, created works that encouraged and motivated soldiers and people to fight for independence.

Entering peacetime, members of the Provincial Photography Association continue their artistic mission to accompany the movement and development of their homeland to promptly record all changes in daily life and aspirations to rise up in the new era. The topics are still full of current events such as: production labor, building new rural areas, maintaining security and order, economic projects... but through the shooting perspective, the creativity of the members has created many works rich in art, full of emotions, and have a special appeal to the public. Not only that, through the beautiful moments exhibited and posted on social networks and tourism websites, they have helped spread the image of Bac Lieu to domestic and foreign tourists.

Mr. Do Ngoc An - Chairman of the Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said: “Over 72 years of establishment and strong development (March 15, 1953 - March 15, 2025), Bac Lieu photography has affirmed its pioneering role on the cultural front. From the years of war to the period of national construction and development, photographers have created many works with the breath of their homeland. Particularly in the 28 years of re-establishment of the province, photography members have constantly innovated and improved the quality of artistic photography creation methods, especially closely following the 5 pillars of socio-economic development of the province”.

Considered a locality with a strong development movement in the region and the whole country, Bac Lieu photography in 2024 continued to reap many awards. Notably, members brought home 6 excellent awards, 285 Gold Medals at international art photography competitions; 1 National Excellent C prize, 2 Bronze Medals at the Art Photography Competition in the Mekong Delta region...

With a burning passion and talent that has been inherited and developed through many generations, the province's photographers are diligently contributing to the cultural and artistic "flower garden" with unique works, contributing to spreading the image of a beautiful Bac Lieu, constantly striving to develop.
