Dong Sang is one of the localities with the largest strawberry growing area in Moc Chau town with more than 90 hectares. At this time, Dong Sang farmers are focusing on harvesting strawberries. Thanks to the application of science and technology and production according to organic processes, strawberries in Dong Sang have high quality, creating value, brand and are favored by consumers.
This farm of more than 4 hectares belongs to a young man born in the 90s, Ngan Van Quan, in Na Ang residential group, Dong Sang ward. The farm is equipped with an automatic irrigation system, nylon cover, anti-hail net, and strawberry plants are grown and cared for according to VietGap process, so they have high quality and productivity, and the fruits are bigger and more beautiful than those grown outdoors.
Mr. Ngan Van Quan, Na Ang residential group, Dong Sang ward, Moc Chau town: "This year, strawberries are also priced better than previous years, averaging over 100,000 VND/kg. First, we have to produce good quality strawberries so that people will come to us, then develop and promote on Facebook and Zalo channels."
As for Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong's family, in order to harvest and package strawberries for orders in and out of the province, Mrs. Huong's family has to hire dozens of workers every day. With an area of over 6,000 m2 growing Japanese strawberries according to VietGap standards, since the beginning of the season, Mrs. Huong has harvested nearly 10 tons of strawberries, earning over 1 billion VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Tu Nhien Residential Group, Dong Sang Ward, Moc Chau Town: “We produce according to VietGap standards, ensuring quality and food safety for consumers and supplying to supermarkets. The strawberry garden has invested in net houses and greenhouses to avoid hail, frost and diseases. The price of strawberries this year is also stable, compared to growing vegetables, it is also more economical.”
Strawberry is currently the main crop in the winter season of Dong Sang ward with about 600 households growing it, with an annual output of over 900 tons. With an average selling price of 80 - 120,000 VND/kg, many households are expanding and converting their acreage to growing strawberries. For the sustainable development of strawberries, the ward has coordinated with specialized departments to provide technical guidance on planting, caring for, and harvesting strawberries for farmers; encouraging people to cooperate in production and consumption, contributing to improving economic efficiency from this crop.
Mr. Lo Manh Hung, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dong Sang Ward, Moc Chau Town: "The 2025 strawberry crop has favorable weather and is less susceptible to disease, so farmers do not have to spend much money on care and disease treatment. The Ward People's Committee encourages strawberry growers to produce in a concentrated commodity direction, produce organically, and clean agriculture, ensuring safety for consumers and bringing it to large supermarket systems in Hanoi."
In recent years, along with many strawberry growing areas in the province, Dong Sang strawberries are increasingly affirming their brand of quality, present in many large supermarket systems, especially served on Vietnam Airlines flights. With outstanding economic efficiency, strawberry plants have been affirming their economic value through each sweet fruit season, contributing to helping farmers realize their aspiration to get rich from agriculture./.
