The movement of farmers competing in production, good business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty is one of the emulation movements that the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province has widely implemented in recent years.

From the movement, many examples of farmers with a "breakthrough" mindset have emerged who have boldly changed their thinking and ways of doing things, exploited the potential and strengths of capital, labor, and land to invest in production and business, rose up to escape poverty and become rich legitimately, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality.
The areca nut drying model for export of Mr. Nguyen Hung Hai's family, Lan Hung village, Van Quan commune (Lap Thach) brings in billions of dong in income each year.
For many years, the areca nut drying model for export of Mr. Nguyen Hung Hai's family, Lan Hung village, Van Quan commune (Lap Thach) has been famous throughout the region, not only bringing high income to the family but also creating jobs and stable income for many workers in and outside the province.
Having been involved in the areca nut drying business for nearly 20 years, from only selling small quantities to traders, thanks to his reputable business, Mr. Hai's family now mainly exports products to China with an output of more than 100 tons of dried areca nuts per year.
To dry areca nuts to export quality, Mr. Hai boldly invested nearly 3 billion VND to build a solid factory area, installing 6 drying kilns with an average capacity of 12 tons of fresh areca nuts/kiln/batch.
Mr. Hai shared: The areca nut drying job is not too hard, but to get a complete batch of dried areca nuts, it must go through many stages of screening, drying and stirring in the oven continuously for 3 days. The drying process must be carefully monitored to mix and stir until the areca nuts are evenly dried. After being taken out of the oven, they must be checked and classified to meet standards before being packaged for sale.
On average, 5 tons of fresh areca nuts will produce 1 ton of dried areca nuts. Currently, the price of fresh areca nuts on the market is 70 - 80 thousand VND/kg, and dried areca nuts after being dried are sold for 450 thousand VND/kg. Thanks to that, each year his family "pockets" billions of VND; creating jobs and stable income for about 20 local workers.
With many efforts and contributions, Mr. Hai has been awarded many certificates of merit by competent authorities, especially the certificate of merit as one of 270 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021 honored and awarded by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union.
Mugwort has many beneficial effects in protecting human health such as anti-infection, antibacterial, stimulating and soothing pain, helping to relieve pain in the spine, muscles, bones and joints... Understanding the uses of this natural medicinal herb, in recent years, Mr. Duong Van Trong, Dong Cao village, Van Tien commune (Yen Lac) has boldly cooperated with 15 local households to plant 1 hectare of mugwort; invested in factories, bottling machines to produce and distill mugwort essential oil.
Mr. Trong shared: "Farmers must always innovate and boldly invest to have the conditions to develop the economy. Therefore, after having the opportunity to visit many places and learn about good economic models in other provinces, I boldly invested in the model of planting and producing essential oils from mugwort, a plant that is no longer strange to farmers, easy to grow, care for and gives high profits."
Currently, Mr. Trong's family purchases 50 - 60 tons of fresh mugwort per year at a purchase price of 3 - 5 thousand VND/kg. On average, 1 ton of fresh mugwort after distillation will yield 600ml of mugwort essential oil. Then, it is bottled in 30ml bottles, with a selling price of 160 thousand VND/bottle, or depending on the customer's request to purchase large quantities of essential oil, bringing in hundreds of millions of VND in revenue each year.
To promote products and expand the consumption market, he boldly registered to put agricultural products on the e-commerce platform Postmart.vn. Thereby, not only changing the production and business mindset but also contributing to the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas.
These are just two of tens of thousands of farmers in the province who have gone through a journey of overcoming difficulties to rise up. Although their methods are different, they all have in common the sensitivity, flexibility, creativity, daring to innovate in economic development as well as proactively seizing opportunities to improve production and business efficiency.
Their achievements not only bring prosperity to their families, encourage their enthusiasm for work, but also contribute to realizing the goal of developing modern agriculture, civilized countryside, wealthy farmers, and building Vinh Phuc to be more and more prosperous.
