Lai Vung District and Sa Dec City "monopolize" the Provincial Cross Country Championship award

DTO - On the morning of March 23, at Van Mieu Park (Ward 1, Cao Lanh City), the 2025 Dong Thap Provincial Cross-Country Championship took place. Athletes from Lai Vung District and Sa Dec City competed excellently, achieving most of the highest results in the tournament.

Women's 3,000m start

The tournament was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, bringing together 105 athletes from 11 units including: Cao Lanh City, Sa Dec City, Hong Ngu City, Cao Lanh District, Thanh Binh, Lai Vung, Lap Vo, Thap Muoi, Tam Nong, Hong Ngu and Dong Thap Medical College. At the tournament, athletes competed in 2 events: individual and team, with a distance of 5,000m for men and 3,000m for women.

Athletes compete in the men's 5,000m event

After nearly 1 hour of exciting competition on the track, the Organizing Committee held a closing ceremony and awarded prizes to recognize the achievements of individuals and groups with high achievements. Athlete Le Thanh Tai (Lai Vung district) excellently won first place in the men's event with a time of 16 minutes and 17 seconds; followed by Bui Van Qui Em (Lai Vung district, 16 minutes and 27 seconds) and Tran Van Nhan (Thap Muoi district, 17 minutes and 5 seconds).

Meanwhile, Sa Dec City showed outstanding strength in the women's category with the first, second and third places respectively belonging to Luu Ngoc Minh Chau (11 minutes 3 seconds), Huynh Thi Hong Van (11 minutes 12 seconds), and Le Ngoc Ky Duyen (11 minutes 22 seconds). The excellent achievements of the individuals helped Lai Vung district win the men's team championship and Sa Dec City win the women's team championship.

The tournament is a practical event responding to the Campaign "All people practice health following the example of great Uncle Ho" and celebrating the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025), the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025). At the same time, it promotes the cross-country training and competition movement in localities in the province.
