Celebrating 50 years of Tu Nghia District Liberation Day

(Baoquangngai.vn) - The District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tu Nghia district solemnly organized the 50th Anniversary of Tu Nghia District Liberation Day (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025).

The ceremony was held on the evening of March 23 at March 24 Square, La Ha town. Attending the ceremony was Colonel Vo Van Ba, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5.

On the provincial leadership side, there were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dinh Thi Hong Minh; Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Cao Phuc; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee; provincial leaders through the periods; leaders of departments, branches and localities; Heroic Vietnamese Mother Huynh Thi Bon; leaders of Tu Nghia district through the periods.

Also attending the ceremony were delegations from Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen districts (Nghe An); Go Cong district (Tien Giang); Trang Bang town (Tay Ninh); Kon Tum city (Kon Tum);... and a large number of cadres, soldiers and people in the district.

At the ceremony, Chairman of Tu Nghia District People's Committee Nguyen Dang Vinh read a speech reviewing the heroic tradition in the struggle for national liberation and the process of construction and development of the district over the past 50 years.

In the resistance war against the American imperialists to save the country, the Party Committee, government and people of Tu Nghia district achieved resounding victories. In particular, on March 24, 1975, the armed forces, paramilitary forces, working teams and people of Tu Nghia district coordinated with the battlefields of the whole province, simultaneously opened fire, attacked the enemy's lair, disintegrated the entire puppet army and government. By 6:00 p.m. on March 24, 1975, the army and people of Tu Nghia district had occupied all the communes, towns and district capitals, completely liberating Tu Nghia district.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of Tu Nghia district, Chairman of Tu Nghia District People's Committee Nguyen Dang Vinh expressed gratitude for the sacrifices of heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, veteran revolutionaries, wounded and sick soldiers, those who sacrificed their blood and bones to write heroic revolutionary history for Tu Nghia homeland today.

Fifty years have passed, Tu Nghia district has grown strongly. The average annual growth rate of product value is 9.1%. The total product value by 2025 is estimated to reach 24.5 trillion VND.

Up to now, the whole district has 11/11 communes meeting new rural standards (NTM), of which 1 commune has proposed to be recognized as meeting advanced NTM standards and 27 villages have met model NTM standards. La Ha town and Song Ve town have met type V urban standards. Tu Nghia district is the second district in the province to be recognized as a district meeting NTM standards in 2019. The poverty rate according to the district's new standards is only 0.97%.

In recognition of its achievements, the Party Committee, government and people of Tu Nghia district were honored to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the First Class Labor Medal and many other noble awards from the Party and State.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Dang Ngoc Huy acknowledged and commended the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Tu Nghia district have achieved over the past 50 years.
