Disciplinary action against former Quang Ngai chairman Tran Ngoc Cang for violations related to Phuc Son Group

The Prime Minister signed a decision to discipline Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, for violations related to a number of bidding packages implemented by Phuc Son Group.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed a decision to discipline Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, with a warning. Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang was disciplined due to violations and shortcomings in his work and was subject to Party discipline. Previously, in mid-September, the Central Inspection Committee met and concluded that the Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee for the terms 2010-2015, 2015-2020, and the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee for the terms 2011-2016, 2016-2021 had violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations. Lack of responsibility, lax leadership and direction allowed the Provincial People's Committee and many organizations and individuals to seriously violate Party regulations and State laws in organizing the implementation of a number of projects and bidding packages carried out by Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company. Many cadres and party members, including key cadres of the province, have degraded in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, violated the law on anti-corruption, violated regulations on what party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example, the announcement of the Central Inspection Committee stated. The above violations "have caused serious consequences, risk of loss and waste of large amounts of state money and assets, caused bad public opinion, reduced the prestige of the Party organization and local government, to the point of having to take disciplinary action".
According to the Central Inspection Commission, personal responsibility for the above violations and shortcomings belongs to Mr. Le Viet Chu, former member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dang Van Minh and Cao Khoa, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Ngoc Cang, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee. The Central Inspection Commission decided to issue a disciplinary warning to Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang. This is the second time former Chairman of Quang Ngai Tran Ngoc Cang has been disciplined. In September 2020, the Prime Minister also signed a decision to issue a disciplinary warning to Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang for many serious violations and shortcomings in leadership, direction, implementation of land management and use, budget finance, investment projects and personnel work... Mr. Cang's violations and shortcomings were assessed by the Central Inspection Commission as "negatively affecting the reputation of local Party committees and authorities, to the extent that disciplinary action must be considered".
