On March 13, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences held a seminar "Let Vietnamese children grow up with a pressure-free childhood".

Attending the seminar were representatives of a number of units under the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), representatives of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights, experts, scientists at research institutes, universities, managers, teachers, and parents.

Director of Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences Le Anh Vinh speaks at the seminar

Speaking at the seminar, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences Le Anh Vinh said: Currently, in some countries around the world, children's primary school study time is extended to more than 5 years with the desire for students to live and study in a less stressful environment. At this level, students should not be pressured by the amount of knowledge, achievements, and scores, but they must be trained in personality, attitude, and solid life skills.

In Vietnam, in recent years, the Ministry of Education and Training has also made major changes in regulations on testing and evaluating the learning process for primary school students.

“Primary education is an extremely important level of education, the foundation for a child’s development. We always want the most visible things such as scores, exam results and turn them into expectations, but forget that a child needs to have the best foundation, the best confidence to be able to go a long way”, Director Le Anh Vinh shared.

Delegates discuss at the seminar

Emphasizing that the topic of how to help Vietnamese children grow up with a stress-free childhood has always received great attention from schools, teachers and parents, Director Le Anh Vinh hopes that the discussion will be a place where experts, scientists, managers and parents will share their views from many different perspectives to do better in nurturing the future generation, so that children can have a life filled with joy and without much pressure from life.

Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights Ha Dinh Bon said: Pressure is a situation that any child may have to face during their growing up journey. Pressure can occur for many reasons and cause unpredictable harm, affecting the physical and mental health of children. Pressure can cause harm to the mental and physical health of children. Therefore, Mr. Ha Dinh Bon proposed the solution of continuing to improve the legal policy system on child protection and care. In particular, it is necessary to build and promulgate a mechanism to synchronously and fully implement all children's rights, no rights must be taken lightly and the rights must be ensured to be implemented harmoniously and reasonably.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Thuan discussed at the seminar

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Thuan, Director of the Center for Psychology and Education Research, Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, along with experts and colleagues, also raised issues related to the concept of how to understand learning pressure and accompany primary school students, while emphasizing the role of schools, families and individuals in resolving learning pressure for primary school students.
