President: Amnesty work ensures objectivity, democracy, fairness and transparency

After listening to the report of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President agreed with the proposals on the expected content and program of implementing high-level foreign affairs activities.

The President emphasized that foreign affairs activities need to be implemented with focus, key points, effectively, practically, closely following foreign affairs priorities; there must be a harmonious, scientific, reasonable and balanced combination between outgoing and incoming delegations on all three pillars: party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy. In addition, it is necessary to ensure comprehensiveness and balance between regions and partners on the basis of an independent, autonomous foreign policy, diversifying and multilateralizing foreign relations.

Foreign affairs activities must aim at expanding and deepening relations, firmly consolidating a peaceful, stable and favorable environment for national development, enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena, consolidating the great national unity bloc, and contributing to protecting the Fatherland early and from afar.

The President pointed out that in order to successfully complete those goals, foreign affairs activities of senior leaders need to be carefully prepared in terms of content, creative in form, and logically and closely structured and effective in terms of work programs.

The President believes that with the new role and position after taking over the functions and tasks of the Party Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Commission and part of the tasks of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular and foreign affairs in general will fulfill their tasks well.

Also this morning, the President worked with the Office of the President on a number of key tasks.

Regarding amnesty work, the President said that on March 3, a decision on amnesty in 2025 was issued, implementing amnesty and early release of prisoners on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

From now until the time of special amnesty, there is not much left, the workload is large and to ensure the progress, effectiveness and significance of the special amnesty work, the President requests the Government, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy and relevant agencies to carry out the special amnesty work well, ensuring objectivity, democracy, fairness, transparency, strictness, correct subjects, conditions according to regulations, meeting political, legal, foreign affairs and humanitarian requirements.

The President suggested continuing to strengthen dissemination, information and propaganda to all levels of people about the amnesty so that people can participate in monitoring the implementation process of the amnesty; working with all levels and sectors to join hands to help amnestied people reintegrate into the community and become useful people in society...

The President also requested the Office of the President to closely coordinate with relevant agencies to prepare content for the 6th meeting of the National Defense and Security Council.
