Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh received a delegation from the French State Electricity Group.

On the afternoon of March 12, 2025, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh had a meeting and worked with representatives of the French Electricity Corporation (EDF). On the side of the Ministry of Science and Technology, there were representatives of relevant Departments and Divisions. On the side of France, there were French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, Mr. Vakisasai Ramany, Vice President of EDF, in charge of international development of nuclear projects.

Overview of the working session

At the meeting, representatives of EDF Group introduced the latest generation of nuclear power technology, integrating the most advanced technical solutions, which have been verified in a number of countries. This technology has been completely digitized, ensuring safety throughout the entire implementation process.

Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh highly appreciated EDF's sharing of nuclear power technology. The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam is in the process of restarting nuclear power programs, in which the Ministry of Science and Technology plays the role of an agency ensuring nuclear safety and security, providing technical support for nuclear power projects, and in the long term, developing its own nuclear science and technology.

The representative of the Institute of Atomic Energy also proposed that the French side pay special attention to supporting Vietnam in developing and training human resources in the field of nuclear power.

At the meeting, EDF shared some experiences in operating nuclear power plants in several countries around the world, about cooperating with local partners in scientific research, supporting the supporting technology industry to be able to autonomously operate and maintain nuclear power plants, about training human resources, allocating a part of the budget to support education for local people's children towards the sustainable development of this industry.

At the end of the working session, both sides expressed their belief that today's meeting is a starting point to restart the cooperation process between the two sides in the field of nuclear power development, contributing to ensuring energy security and safety.
