Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum is located in Thanh Phu commune, Cau Ke district, covering an area of ​​1,500m2 with a total investment of more than 20 billion VND.


On the afternoon of December 13, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province held the inauguration ceremony of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum after nearly 2 years of construction.

This is the first non-public museum in Vietnam with the theme of Tra Vinh wax coconut tree - a tree with special economic and cultural value.

Besides rice, coconut is one of the main crops of Tra Vinh, has long been associated with farmers and is the main source of income for a part of the people in the province.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee said: "Cau Ke land, Tra Vinh is blessed by nature, alluvial deposits, and diligent cultivation by the people, producing many types of fruit trees and specialties.

The most special of which is the wax coconut, which originated 100 years ago. With constant efforts, Tra Vinh wax coconut has become a famous brand and a respected name in the world.

It is not only a fruit, but also a symbol of development and success of all the people of Cau Ke homeland in particular and Tra Vinh province in general".

Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

According to Mr. Thien, to develop organic coconut trees associated with granting growing area codes and boosting exports, the province has proposed many solutions. Along with that is the strategy to upgrade the coconut value chain in the period of 2022-2025, the goal by 2025, coconut productivity will reach about 16 tons/ha; the whole province will have at least 8,000ha of organic coconut.

Of which, 6,000 hectares have achieved international organic certification, accounting for 32% of the province's coconut area. In addition, by 2025, about 550 hectares of specialty wax coconut will be developed.

To contribute to promoting the specialty of wax coconut, the Provincial People's Committee granted a license to operate the Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum on June 5, 2024. This is the first museum in Vietnam focusing on wax coconut - a tree with special economic and cultural value; at the same time, it is the first non-public museum in the province.

Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Museum will create diversity for activities to introduce and promote the cultural heritage values ​​of the province, with the exhibition theme focusing on Tra Vinh wax coconut tree.

Mr. Thien said that this is a project highly appreciated by all levels and sectors, a cultural work of great significance in preserving and promoting the value of wax coconut.

The Wax Coconut Museum was built with a total investment of more than 20 billion VND on a construction area of ​​nearly 1,500m2. The building is designed in a U shape, including a ground floor and two floors with a main outdoor staircase.

The main theme of the project focuses on the wax coconut tree, from its history of formation and development to the daily activities of the wax coconut growing community, as well as the deeply processed and diverse products from this fruit.
