This is the topic discussed in the scientific conference "Pharmaceutical Industry - Innovation to reach further", one of the activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Phenikaa University. Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huy, Rector of the school shared the development orientations of the school and the Faculty of Pharmacy in the coming time.
Accordingly, the quality of training, scientific research, and technology for innovation will be increasingly improved, contributing to socio-economic development and national construction. In the period of 2025 - 2030, the Faculty aims to train high-quality pharmaceutical human resources for society, striving to be in the Top 10 prestigious Pharmacist training programs in Vietnam by 2030. At the same time, it will propose a viewpoint on innovating the training program (CTDT) such as enhancing practical experience in pharmacies and hospitals; innovating teaching methods, assessment and converting the University - Master's training program for excellent students to develop themselves in the Pharmacy industry.
In the context of globalization and rapid development of science and technology, the pharmaceutical industry also needs to change to keep up with new technological trends. Grasping that requirement, within the framework of the celebration ceremony, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a scientific conference with the theme "Pharmaceutical Industry - Innovation to reach far". The conference is not only a forum for academic exchange but also an opportunity for researchers and training institutions to work together to build and develop the domestic pharmaceutical industry to reach international standards.
Mr. Ta Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health shared about the National Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Pharmaceutical Industry to 2030 and vision to 2045 at the workshop.
At the workshop, Mr. Ta Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health shared about the innovative contents in the Strategy for the development of the Vietnamese Pharmaceutical Industry for the period up to 2030 and vision to 2045. Specifically, he gave an overview of the current situation of the Pharmaceutical Industry through summarizing 09 years of implementing Strategy 68 - National Strategy for the development of the Vietnamese Pharmaceutical Industry for the period up to 2020 and vision to 2030. From there, he proposed a national strategy for the development of the Vietnamese Pharmaceutical Industry for the period up to 2030 and vision to 2045 (Decision No. 1165/QD-TTg approved by the Government on October 9, 2023).
In particular, the Strategy focuses on a number of new, breakthrough points to develop the pharmaceutical industry in the coming period, such as improving the perspective on drug supply, from "proactively and promptly supplying drugs..." to "proactively and promptly supplying drugs..." and "ensuring people have full and timely access to drugs...".
At the same time, enhance the role of the pharmaceutical industry, not only stopping at the role of logistics in providing pharmaceutical products, but also participating in providing public health care services, as well as in medical facilities.
Along with that, developing Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry to a high level towards producing innovative drugs and drugs with new and modern dosage forms. Building a digital data ecosystem, establishing a digital healthcare platform in the pharmaceutical field...
Experts discuss training pharmacists to meet social needs at the workshop
Discussing the development of the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Hoang Quoc Lam - Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicals, Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed that Vietnam is a country with potential for medicinal materials.
However, the proportion of medicinal materials used to produce drugs is very low. The industrial production value of the pharmaceutical industry accounts for a small proportion of the total production value of the pharmaceutical industry in particular, and of the entire industry in general...
The reasons leading to the above situation and some solutions towards the drug production target in the development strategy of the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry. Accordingly, by 2030, we will continue to strive to produce 20% of the raw material demand for domestic drug production; by 2045, we will proactively produce specialized drugs, new drugs, original branded drugs, vaccines... especially original branded drugs from domestic raw materials that are researched, produced and copyrighted.
In addition, the program also spent a lot of time discussing the topic "Innovation in training pharmacists to meet social needs", gathering many experts in different fields of the pharmaceutical industry. Here, experts exchanged and discussed what pharmaceutical educational institutions should do to concretize development strategies associated with the general orientation of the industry.
