The first 20 students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City received scholarships
The information was shared at the signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation agreement between Merck Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, which took place this morning (December 10). The contents of the cooperation agreement aim to provide financial support, while providing practical training programs to improve the quality of education as well as create favorable conditions for students in their career development.
The cooperation program is expected to last for 3 years (2024-2026), with activities such as: scholarship funding, internship programs, organizing career orientation events and business tours.
Each year, Merck Healthcare Vietnam will award 20 scholarships (worth VND 10 million/scholarship) to students who meet specific criteria. Group 1 is students with excellent academic performance, with a cumulative GPA of ≥ 2.5, a training score of 65 or higher, with priority given to students in difficult circumstances (with a certificate from the locality). Group 2 is to support students in difficult circumstances, with a cumulative GPA of ≥ 2.0, a training score of 50 or higher, with a certificate of difficult circumstances from the locality.
Each year, this unit will accept 5-10 interns at the company. The internships help students apply their knowledge into practice, develop professional skills and better understand the real working environment in a multinational pharmaceutical environment, thereby developing future career skills.
In addition, this unit will also coordinate with the Faculty of Pharmacy to organize career guidance talks to share information about career opportunities, trends in the healthcare industry and develop personal skills for students. The two sides signed a strategic cooperation agreement with many contents to create favorable conditions for students.
Ms. Ghislaine Dondellinger, General Director of Merck Healthcare Vietnam Co., Ltd., believes that she will accompany the Faculty of Pharmacy to create opportunities for students to become competent healthcare professionals, ready to meet the challenges in the healthcare sector. This will not only improve the quality of healthcare services but also contribute to improving public health, creating a healthier society.
Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Dao, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "We expect that this cooperation program will become a solid bridge between the school and businesses, promoting the exchange between academic and practical knowledge. Thereby, students will not only study and develop in a high-quality training environment but also become active factors contributing to improving the quality of health care for the community."
