According to statistics from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, from 2021 to 2023, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels of the city mobilized over 250.56 billion VND to support the "For the Poor" Fund. From this fund, all levels have allocated over 209.7 billion VND to spend on activities of giving gifts on the occasion of Tet, supporting the construction of solidarity houses, supporting livelihoods, medical examination and treatment, supporting learning and supporting social insurance payments for poor households, near-poor households, households in especially difficult circumstances....

By the end of 2023, the entire city had reduced 1,456 poor households, bringing the poverty rate down to 0.03% (690 households); the near-poor household rate to 0.7% (15,835 households), 18/30 districts, towns and cities had no more poor households, 5 districts had no more near-poor households.
In 2024, social security activities, improving social welfare and the quality of life of the people of the capital will continue to be promoted, in which the housing construction program for poor and near-poor households has become "projects in the hearts of the people".
The program of providing support and starting construction and repair of houses for poor and near-poor households was implemented in 15 districts and towns in the city. Through review, in 15 districts and towns, there are 725 poor households with housing difficulties who do not have the conditions to build new houses or repair houses. The city has decided to support the construction and repair of houses for all of the above households, of which 462 were supported for new construction and 263 households for repair with a total cost of 61,980 billion VND.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha affirmed: "The program of providing support and starting construction and repair of houses for poor and near-poor households is a very practical and deeply humane work, demonstrating the tradition of solidarity and joining hands for the poor of the entire political system of the capital, creating conditions for households in difficult circumstances in the city to have an increasingly better life."
As of August 6, 555 houses have been completed. Districts and towns are speeding up the progress, ensuring completion before September 30.
Appreciating the progress of completing new construction and repairing houses for poor and near-poor households in localities, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Hong Dan said that recently, the Hanoi People's Committee has directed functional units such as the Department of Finance, People's Committees of districts and towns... to speed up disbursement and supplement funding.
At the same time, it is requested that the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city urge and guide the Fatherland Front Committees at district and commune levels on procedures and documents for settlement of support funds.
The effective implementation of the housing construction program for poor and near-poor households has contributed to the completion of one of the goals of Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on "Developing the social security system, improving social welfare and quality of life of the people of the capital in the period 2021-2025".
This is truly a meaningful activity, contributing to effectively spreading Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee, ensuring social security in the capital.
