On February 14, the People's Committee of Da Nang City submitted a document to the City People's Council on a resolution to support 100% of the health insurance premium for households aged 60-75 who are near-poor and households with an average living standard according to the city's standards.
According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the health insurance policy is one of the pillars of social security in caring for and protecting people's health.
Although the coverage of universal health insurance in Da Nang is quite high (in 2023 it will reach 91.71%, excluding armed forces, key personnel and relatives), the expansion of participants is still limited and the rate of increase in health insurance coverage is slow.
The city considers the group of people from 60 to under 75 years old belonging to near-poor households and households with average living standards to be those who are past working age.
Many households have difficulty generating income or have had their income reduced, and are at risk of illness and disease.
According to statistics, Da Nang has 680 people belonging to near-poor households according to city standards between the ages of 60 and 75.
There are about 5,500 people in households with an average living standard according to city standards between the ages of 60 and 75.
The estimated support budget at current levels in 2025 is more than 7.8 billion VND.
