In less than 10 minutes, a clinic in Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) completed a medical examination record for a patient. Notably, the entire process was performed by the staff themselves, without the need for a doctor to visit, examine, or test the patient.

Dat Viet General Clinic (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province) is one of the large and famous clinics in the area. However, recently, people have complained that this unit does not perform health examination services according to procedures, examines patients carelessly or does not examine patients but still charges examination fees.

Dak Lak:

Dat Viet General Clinic is one of the largest clinics in Dak Lak.

Providing effective support to this clinic is a team of “brokers” scattered throughout the city, specializing in “hunting” and “leading” patients to use the service. At the Department of Transportation of Dak Lak province, it is not difficult to encounter these “brokers” for health check-ups. They are motorbike taxi drivers, and also have the “duty” of leading customers for the clinic.

Posing as someone in need of a quick health check, a man named D. offered 700,000 VND with a commitment that the procedure would be “lightning fast” and that the results would be available after 10 minutes. Receiving a nod of agreement, Mr. D. quickly got on his motorbike and took us to Dat Viet General Clinic for the health check.

Dak Lak:

With the "support" of health check-up brokers, the reporter underwent a health check-up process in less than 10 minutes at Dat Viet General Clinic.

Arriving at the clinic, this man skillfully performed the procedures for reporters to enter for a health check. We were introduced by the nurse to the examination department. Here, under the guidance of Mr. D., we were taken to have our urine samples taken and X-rayed. After that, an employee filled out all the information on the health check form and completed the process. Surprisingly, from the time we set foot in the clinic until we held the health check form in our hands, it took less than 10 minutes as promised by the "brokers".

Dak Lak:

Although no doctor examined the reporter, the results of the examination and tests were all good.

Although no doctor visited or examined the reporter, the health examination results included: eyes; ears-nose-throat; cardiovascular; respiratory; musculoskeletal... were all good. The blood and urine tests were also negative even though... no blood tests were done.

When we asked, Mr. D. said: “They just do it for show, they don’t do any tests. As long as you have all your limbs and are not addicted, the doctor will give you the best.”

When he finished his work, as he was about to leave the clinic, broker D. did not forget to say: "If anyone needs a health check-up, please refer them to me. This service is quick, going to the hospital for a check-up takes all day and is very time-consuming."

Working with reporters, Dr. Chung Khanh Bang, owner of Dat Viet General Clinic, affirmed that the clinic's medical team worked according to the correct procedures and processes, and that there was no such thing as a "lightning-fast" health check. However, when we presented evidence collected from the health check process at the clinic, Mr. Bang said that this was the staff's fault.

To clarify the issue further, we asked to provide his medical examination results, but Mr. Bang could not provide them. At the meeting, the reporter also asked to meet the doctor for examination and testing, but Ms. Huynh Thi Lan Phuong, the testing staff, also admitted that she did not perform the testing procedures for the reporter.

“Because the patient came in late at night, the blood test took nearly 30 minutes to complete. I was afraid that the patient would have to wait too long, so I wrote the results on the health examination form without performing the test,” Ms. Phuong explained.

Also at the meeting, the clinic manager named Minh admitted that there were mistakes by the examination department staff and would hold a meeting to rectify the entire department, to prevent similar situations from happening again.

Working with the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health, after providing the collected documents, Mr. Cao Van Thanh, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Dak Lak Department of Health, said that he would ask Dat Viet General Clinic to explain the incident, and if there were any violations, they would be handled according to regulations.
