NDO - On March 12, Quang Nam Central General Hospital announced that the unit had successfully performed complex open heart surgery on two female patients over 80 years old in Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province.
According to information from the hospital, the two patients are Ms. Nguyen Thi Hung (82 years old, Tam Quang commune) and Ms. Pham Thi Chau (84 years old, Tam Hiep commune). Both have serious cardiovascular diseases, especially severe aortic valve stenosis. After consulting with doctors, the family and the patients decided to choose biological aortic valve replacement surgery to improve their quality of life.

Patient Nguyen Thi Hung was admitted to the hospital on February 2 with aortic valve stenosis, a history of hypertension and ischemic heart disease. On February 18, the patient underwent surgery to replace the bioprosthetic aortic valve, which was successfully performed.
Similarly, patient Pham Thi Chau was admitted to the hospital on February 6 with a diagnosis of severe aortic valve stenosis accompanied by complex coronary artery disease. On February 26, doctors performed a biological aortic valve replacement combined with coronary aortic bypass.

Both patients recovered well, patient Nguyen Thi Hung was discharged from the hospital on March 5 and patient Pham Thi Chau was discharged from the hospital on March 12.

It is known that from 2024 to present, Quang Nam Central General Hospital has performed 48 successful open heart surgeries, bringing hope and better quality of life to many cardiovascular patients in the region.
