The program gave hundreds of gifts to women in difficult circumstances and lonely elderly people. At the same time, over 400 young people from many areas and women participated in collecting trash, clearing weeds, and clearing the flow of Nha Nuoi canal (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City).

We call for and mobilize the response of all levels, sectors, organizations and individuals through specific and practical actions and deeds to join hands and contribute to better care and help improve the material and spiritual lives of the people, including women, youth and children.

Eliminate environmental pollution black spots

Nguyen Thi Bach Mai, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, said that "Women's Action Month" and Green Sunday each year become highlights and a peak communication period for women and young people to take action across the city.

Ms. Mai said it is necessary to mobilize resources to carry out activities suitable to the realities of each locality.

Thereby promoting propaganda, raising awareness for members, union members and people about environmental protection, limiting the use of plastic bags.

At the same time, solid waste must be treated and classified at source, residential areas and public places must be kept clean, and teams and authorities must work together to handle black spots of waste and environmental pollution. "We need to be persistent, do it regularly and continuously to create a spread to each residential area," Ms. Mai emphasized.

According to Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union Tran Thi Phuong Hoa, this is the second time the "Month of Action with Women" has been launched. The month has many community-oriented activities such as: lending capital, introducing jobs, supporting startups, building shelters, providing livelihoods, giving scholarships, and caring for disadvantaged women and orphans.

In addition, it also helps households in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives and carries out environmental protection activities, responding to climate change with the goal of sustainable development. Especially, it joins hands to share the loss and hardship of people in the recent storm and flood areas.

Get wet in the rain to pick up trash and open up the flow

The heavy rain from early morning did not hinder the determination of the volunteers and their colleagues to clean up the Nha Nuoi canal. The volunteer group of Saigon Xanh Club (Vietnam Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City) wore protective gear, waded into the black canal, cut off clumps of grass clinging to the edge of the canal for other volunteers on the bank to pull up. They also picked up many types of household waste and plastic bags that clogged the flow, making the canal even more polluted.

Many other volunteers came to join when they learned about the activity through the volunteer portal Go Volunteer.

Staying in Go Vap district, Thanh Tung bragged that instead of hanging out at a coffee shop on Sunday, he and his friends chose to come here to collect trash with the hope of contributing to restoring the green color to the canal. Tung said: "Even though it's raining, everyone is trying to do their best to make the canal more beautiful today."

Ms. Kim Thanh and several other women who live near the canal helped clear the grass and bought dozens of glasses of sugarcane juice to offer the young people. "The children are like our grandchildren, offering them a glass of juice is a way to thank them for coming to help improve the living environment of the people around here, so everyone is very happy," Ms. Thanh smiled.

Towards the 50th anniversary of national reunification

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Mai suggested that leaders of Party committees at all levels pay attention to directing and supporting the improvement of the quality of supervision and social criticism. At the same time, maintain contact and dialogue with cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, union members, youth and women to exchange and listen to the aspirations and recommendations of youth and women of all genders.

"On that basis, we will build practical, effective and timely actions to speak up to protect and participate in resolving and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of vulnerable women and children who have been abused," said Ms. Mai.

Ms. Mai also said that it is necessary to organize many activities to promote the youth strength of union members and young people in participating in the movement to build "safe - clean - civilized - affectionate" neighborhoods and hamlets. Thereby, mobilizing union members, women, union members and young people to respond to emulation and creativity towards the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, also contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City with a good quality of life, civilized, modern and affectionate.

Green Sunday 155

The 155th Green Sunday was organized by the City Women's Union in coordination with the City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union and the People's Committee of District 12, as one of the activities contributing to the youth project "Saigon River - The River of My City".

This is also the content aimed at celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Green Sunday activities of Ho Chi Minh City youth (1994 - 2024). Thereby, it has created a movement of the city's youth and then spread throughout the country associated with the initiative and volunteerism of young people to protect the environment, mobilizing people to raise awareness of environmental protection and actively build a civilized lifestyle and urban beauty.
