Green crown inspires green living

As a girl of Gen Z, Nguyen Thanh Ha wanted to write her first book Green Crown as a reminder to herself and to seek sympathy from friends of the same age who share the same goal of protecting the environment.

According to Nguyen Thanh Ha, green living is being self-aware of each of your daily activities and being ready to change to reduce pressure on the living environment, help the surrounding space to be fresh and clean, reduce resource consumption and not litter.

"To do that, young people are the pioneering generation, and at the same time "helping" their parents and grandparents change old habits that are harmful to the environment.

We young people will make Vietnam greener and more livable" - Thanh Ha confided.

In Green Crown , the author presents a perspective on changing each person's mindset towards the surrounding environment through actions within their capabilities such as: not considering the environment as a place to exploit, consume, and destroy; not considering wild animals as something to capture, butcher, take their livers, bile, or cook into glue; learning to appreciate the existence of surrounding species...

Be a beauty queen, clean up trash

Writing in the book's epilogue, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former director of the Vietnam Economic Institute - said that Green Crown was not written in a showbiz style with the aim of presenting, polishing and advertising oneself as a symbol of beauty.

But it is only a source of inspiration for action when talking about a noble and difficult mission facing humanity: Let's work for a clean and green world. And we, especially the young people, should live responsibly for that beloved and very vulnerable world.

With Green Crown , Nguyen Thanh Ha raises concerns about the value of beauty, the desire to discover herself with a spirit of dedication to do meaningful things for the living environment.

As in the chapter "Becoming a beauty queen, cleaning up trash ", she wondered:

"A newly crowned beauty queen or a beauty queen cleaning up trash are all news that somehow attract public opinion and attention.

But is the heat of the beauties enough to raise social awareness to a new level, when green living and environmental protection issues are gradually "heating up" with the increase in Earth's temperature?".

She confided: "Anyone who has been to Singapore will surely be impressed by the cleanliness of this small country. And their beauty queen is rarely seen directly participating in a mass garbage cleaning program.

There, they talk about activities to raise public awareness about issues such as reducing carbon emissions, planting trees and limiting the use of plastic products, further steps in the process of environmental protection.

Even after my term as Miss Universe ended, the environmental programs I participated in continued to be written about. Every little thing, but I think I will never stop."

Nguyen Thanh Ha was crowned Miss Environment Vietnam 2022. Just one year later, surpassing 65 contestants from around the world, she won the Miss Environment crown Miss Eco International 2023 in Egypt.

Those tireless efforts helped Thanh Ha be honored as the United Nations Young Goodwill Ambassador and Outstanding Youth of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.
