The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River, connecting District 1 with Thu Duc City, is expected to start construction on the morning of March 29, 2025, with a total investment of VND1,000 billion.
The pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River is an important project, connecting Bach Dang wharf park (District 1) with the riverside park of the new urban area of Thu Thiem (Thu Duc City).
The bridge is designed with the image of a water coconut leaf, a typical symbol of the South, creating a unique and impressive beauty.

The project has a total investment of about VND996.9 billion, fully funded by Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company without any conditions. Initially, it was expected to start construction before April 30, 2025 and be completed in 2027. However, according to Nutifood's latest proposal, the official groundbreaking ceremony will be held on March 29, 2025, one month earlier than the original plan.
The bridge construction site is located between Ba Son Bridge and the Saigon River Tunnel. The bridge head on the District 1 side will be located in the Bach Dang Wharf Park area, near Nguyen Hue Walking Street, while the bridge head on the Thu Duc City side will be located in the riverside park and outside the boundary of Area A, south of the central square in the Thu Thiem new urban area.

When put into operation, the pedestrian bridge will not only create an architectural highlight for the city center, but also contribute to promoting tourism, connecting central areas with Thu Thiem New Urban Area. |
The structure is about 261 m long, of which the main span of the cable-stayed arch is 187 m long, with steel beams and cross-sections varying from 7 to 11 m.
The distance from the highest water level to the bridge underpass (navigable clearance) is 10 m. On the District 1 side, the approach bridge and ramp are about 285 m long and 6 m wide, while on the Thu Duc City side, there will be two approach branches 290 m and 165 m long.
The bridge is designed with a separate lane for bicycles and can withstand the load of an ambulance of up to 3 tons. On both sides of the bridge are pedestrian lanes for visitors, taking pictures and resting. Between the bicycle lane and the pedestrian lane is a soft median strip that can be flexibly removed to change functions, serving the organization of community events.
In addition to a modern lighting system, the bridge is also equipped with a roof, drainage system and many other amenities to ensure safety and convenience for people. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2027.
