Many solutions to prevent occupational accidents

DTO - In 2024, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Department of Home Affairs) will advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue documents related to occupational safety and hygiene (OSH), organize training courses, launch and widely disseminate OSH to units, establishments and enterprises in the province, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility for preventing occupational accidents for employers and employees.

The Department of Home Affairs has implemented the 2024 Labor Safety and Hygiene Program of Dong Thap province. Through coordination with departments and branches, it has organized 7 labor safety and hygiene training courses for more than 290 people, including employers, managers, officers in charge of labor safety and hygiene, workers doing jobs with strict requirements on labor safety and hygiene and safety at units and enterprises in the province.

Units and enterprises organized 111 occupational safety and health training courses for nearly 10,800 people in labor groups in charge of each job and those working without labor contracts. Periodic health check-ups were organized for more than 20,900 workers, and 51 units and enterprises conducted work environment monitoring to protect the health and safety of workers.

In addition, the Department of Home Affairs coordinated with relevant agencies to inspect the implementation of labor laws, labor safety and hygiene at 15 enterprises in the province. The Steering Committee for Labor Safety and Hygiene of districts and cities established an interdisciplinary inspection team to organize 12 inspections of labor safety and hygiene at 136 enterprises and production establishments in the locality. Departments and agencies conducted inspections and supervision of labor laws and labor safety and hygiene at 538 enterprises and production establishments; guided more than 110 units and enterprises to conduct self-inspections on labor safety and hygiene, thereby promptly detecting risks of labor safety and hygiene loss and overcoming existing shortcomings in labor safety and hygiene; guided measures to improve working conditions, developed 70 regulations and procedures to ensure labor safety and hygiene at the workplace.

Provincial departments and branches coordinated to organize the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month and Workers' Month 2024 with the participation of more than 500 cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the province. 12/12 districts and cities developed plans to respond to the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month in the locality, of which 2 localities, Hong Ngu City and Tam Nong District, organized a launching ceremony with the participation of 700 workers. At the same time, they coordinated to develop a column on occupational safety and health broadcast on the district radio system and radio stations of communes, wards, and towns to raise awareness of employers and workers in preventing and combating occupational accidents and diseases at units and enterprises in the area.

Departments, branches, localities and enterprises organized 240 seminars, information and propaganda on radio and television systems and distributed and hung nearly 9,200 banners, posters, slogans and leaflets on streets, main roads, in front of the gates of agencies, units and enterprises in the area. The Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with departments, branches, socio-political organizations to visit and give gifts to workers who had occupational accidents and were in difficult circumstances...

In 2025, the Department of Home Affairs will advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop and issue a Plan to implement the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in Dong Thap province with the theme: "Strengthening assessment, identifying risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure occupational safety and health at the workplace". Departments, branches, companies and enterprises using labor will innovate and diversify many forms and methods of communication suitable for each group of subjects at the workplace and on mass media, social networks, district and city radio systems, radio stations of communes, wards and towns, conveying messages on occupational safety and health to workers; promptly informing and propagating the causes of occupational accidents and incidents to prevent and avoid.

At the same time, organize dialogues, answer questions about policies and difficulties in occupational safety and health work at units and enterprises to promote the implementation of occupational safety and health laws. Organize competitions to learn about laws and excellent occupational safety and health workers. Relevant sectors and units organize propaganda for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to perform occupational safety and health work well. Establish an interdisciplinary inspection team at the provincial, district and city levels to inspect the implementation of occupational safety and health regulations in areas with high risks of causing occupational safety and health loss such as: Construction works, petroleum and oil trading, liquefied gas, electric pumping stations, mechanical facilities; repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, use of machinery in agriculture to prevent the risk of occupational accidents, resolutely handle violations in accordance with the law.
