Using the results of the entire 12th grade for admission

According to the Regulations on university and college admissions for preschool education, the 2025 university admissions will no longer be considered for early admission.

Explaining this regulation, the Ministry of Education and Training said that in recent years, the application of early admission has caused the admission period to be prolonged, and candidates have to request confirmation of their high school results to many training institutions, leading to a waste of social resources. Many training institutions have called for early admission in large numbers, but the number of candidates enrolling is very small, showing that early admission is not effective.

In addition, when training institutions conduct early admissions using the learning results from 1 to 5 semesters of high school instead of using the results of the entire 12th grade year (semester 2), it affects the learning process and high school graduation exam of students, thereby affecting their learning capacity at university level.

Therefore, to ensure that students are fully equipped with the necessary basic knowledge to study university programs, from this year the regulations stipulate that early admission will no longer be considered.

Regarding the method of considering transcripts, candidates should note that the new regulations stipulate that when using high school academic results for admission, candidates must use their entire 12th grade academic results. In addition, to ensure that the contribution of the entire 12th grade academic results is not too low when calculating the score, the regulations stipulate that the weight of the 12th grade academic results for admission is not less than 25%.

Adjusting enrollment plan

According to the admission plans of universities announced up to this point, many schools continue to consider high school transcripts. However, candidates should also note that this year, schools also have some adjustments to quotas and combined conditions when considering high school transcripts.

University of Education 2 has just announced its 2025 enrollment plan with 10 admission methods. In particular, the school has an admission method using high school academic results (reviewing transcripts); admission using high school academic results combined with aptitude test scores.

With the method of considering academic records, the school calculates the first and second semester scores of grade 12. The school said that it will consider admission based on the principle of taking from high to low until the quota of the admission major is full. Admission scores are taken to 2 decimal places. If many candidates have the same admission score, the secondary criteria will be used in order of preference from high to low, preference 1 being the highest preference.

In 2025, the Vietnam Women's Academy will offer 12 training programs. In addition to traditional admission methods, this year the academy has added a method of considering the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University of Education.

For candidates choosing the method of considering transcripts in this year's admission season, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long, Head of Training Department - Vietnam Women's Academy, noted that candidates need to learn about the admission quota, time and number of semesters in the admission plan of the schools.

In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training requires considering the learning results of 6 semesters of high school, so when choosing this admission method, students should calculate the academic results compared to other admission methods to consider choosing the most advantageous admission method.

Mr. Long also said that with this year's new regulations, it is expected that the admission score by considering academic records this year will tend to increase because the admission quota by this method is lower than previous years.

“Therefore, candidates and parents should calculate, consider, and carefully research the admission information of schools when choosing this admission method,” Mr. Long noted.

To ensure admission opportunities for students from different regions, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the university and college admission regulations for Early Childhood Education have removed the requirement that each major and each program have a maximum of 4 admission combinations; there is no limit on the number of admission combinations.

However, in order to ensure the quality and knowledge foundation necessary for university study, the regulations stipulate that the subject combination used for admission includes at least 3 suitable subjects, including Math or Literature with a weighted score of not less than 25%.

From 2026, the number of common subjects of the groups must contribute at least 50% of the weighted score.
