Unlimited number of university admission combinations

The regulations on university and college admissions for Early Childhood Education remove the requirement that each major and each program have a maximum of 4 admission combinations; there is no limit on the number of admission combinations.

2025 is the first year that biology courses under the 2018 general education program will take the high school graduation exam. The Ministry of Education and Training has issued regulations for high school graduation exams from 2025, which will increase the number of subjects students can choose.

Therefore, to ensure admission opportunities for students from different regions, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the university and college admission regulations for Early Childhood Education have removed the requirement that each major and each program have a maximum of 4 admission combinations; there is no limit on the number of admission combinations.

However, in order to ensure the quality and knowledge foundation necessary for university study, the regulations stipulate that the subject combination used for admission includes at least 3 suitable subjects, including Math or Literature with a weighted score of not less than 25%.

From 2026, the number of common subjects of the groups must contribute at least 50% of the weighted score.

Regarding the reason for removing the limit of 4 university entrance exam combinations in 2025, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) said that the number of exam sessions and the number of high school graduation exams in 2025 will decrease compared to before. With 2 optional subjects, the number of subjects that students can use to register for the high school graduation exam will increase. If the limit of 4 admission combinations as before will limit the chance of university admission of candidates compared to only studying a certain combination of subjects.

"This new point is to help candidates who choose different exams or study in different groups still have the opportunity to be admitted to majors and training programs according to the policies of higher education institutions," said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung.

In addition to the new points above, the university admission regulations that the Ministry of Education and Training has just officially issued stipulate that early admission is no longer required; candidates must use their academic results for the entire 12th grade year for admission.
