Solemn Ceremony to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Nam Province

On the evening of March 24, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Nam province (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025).

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia attended and delivered a speech. Also attending the ceremony were: Mr. Phan Dien, former member of the Politburo, former Standing member of the Secretariat; Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Mai Van Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister; Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, former Vice President; Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with many local leaders, officials and people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia said that exactly 50 years ago, under the direct leadership and direction of the Zone 5 Party Committee and the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, together with the main force, the army and people of Quang Nam achieved glorious feats of arms, completely liberating Quang Nam province, contributing significantly to the victory of the Great Spring Victory in 1975, completely ending the resistance war against the US to save the country, liberating the South, and unifying the country. This is a brilliant milestone in the history of the province's revolutionary struggle, demonstrating the indomitable will, deep patriotism and immortal solidarity of the people of Quang Nam.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia said that from a province in the poorest group in the country, having to receive subsidies of over 70% of the central budget, Quang Nam has now risen to become a fairly developed province in the region, contributing to the central budget. The scale of the economy in 2024 at current prices will reach about 129 trillion VND, an increase of more than 40 times compared to 1997, the economic structure will shift towards modernity with the value of industry - services accounting for more than 88%; the state budget revenue is estimated at 27,600 billion VND, more than 217 times higher than in 1997; The tourism industry has developed strongly, administrative reform and new rural construction have many positive changes; poverty reduction and the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses have been focused on and implemented drastically...

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized: "I warmly commend and congratulate the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam have achieved in the glorious historical journey of the past 95 years."

The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested that Party committees, authorities and people of Quang Nam need to focus on implementing a number of major orientations and key tasks such as: Urgently and resolutely implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on streamlining the organization and apparatus of the political system according to Conclusion No. 126-KL/TW dated February 14, 2025 and Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW dated February 28, 2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat. Continuing to improve the Party's leadership, governance and fighting capacity in association with building a lean, strong, efficient, effective and efficient political system.

In his speech at the ceremony, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said: “We will forever be grateful and remember the senior leaders of the Party and the nation; the heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroic martyrs, war invalids and sick soldiers who sacrificed their blood and bones for the independence of the nation and the cause of protecting and building the homeland. Quang Nam has more than 65,400 martyrs; tens of thousands of war invalids and sick soldiers; more than 15,300 heroic Vietnamese mothers; the locality with the largest number of martyrs, war invalids and heroic Vietnamese mothers in the country. This is a vivid proof of the patriotism and heroic spirit of the people of Quang Nam; a source of pride and also a source of strength, great encouragement and motivation for today's and future generations to continue to firmly step forward on the journey to the future", said Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.

According to Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, since 2017, Quang Nam has officially regulated domestic revenue to the Central Government; in 2024, the total economic revenue in the area reached more than 27,600 billion VND (217 times higher than in 1997), the economic scale was more than 129 trillion VND, and the average income per capita was more than 84 million VND. The economic structure has shifted strongly towards industry - services. People's lives have been constantly improved, the poverty rate has decreased rapidly, by the end of 2024 it was only 4.56%. The whole province has 149/193 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards, 5 district-level units meeting new rural standards.

In particular, from a purely agricultural province, Quang Nam now has Chu Lai Open Economic Zone with the largest automobile manufacturing and assembly center and mechanical industry in the country; Chu Lai airport has been put into effective operation and is planned to become a 4F international airport, and a seaport planned to be class 1 to receive 50,000-ton ships. The whole province has 14 industrial parks and more than 50 industrial clusters in operation with many large investors, attracting more than 6.2 billion USD in foreign investment and hundreds of thousands of billions of VND in domestic investment, creating jobs for more than 113,000 workers...

Along with economic development, Quang Nam focuses on ensuring social security, welfare, progress and equity.
