Commenting on the contest's popularity among students, Ms. Ly Thi Thu Trang - a teacher at Le Trong Tan High School - said that practical actions to protect the environment have been deployed and implemented by the school for a long time.
But when students know that this is recognized, appreciated, and spread, they are happier and proud to introduce what the school's students have done.
"In addition to activities such as collecting trash, not littering, sorting trash, and keeping the environment clean, our school encourages students and teachers to say no to plastic products, so their efforts have been recognized. They feel very happy and want to spread the word to more friends," Ms. Trang informed.
Evaluating this year's entries, Mr. Duong Tri Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - said: "The entries demonstrate students' sense of responsibility and practical actions in protecting the environment, in addition to their creativity and desire to spread positive messages to everyone and every home."
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ngo Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Protection Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment) - said that the city's goal in the next phase is to control pollution, leading to the city implementing environmentally friendly solutions, green transportation, developing green energy, and moving towards building a clean, green, and environmentally friendly city. Therefore, educating students in specific practical actions to protect the environment is extremely important.
"A survey conducted on 2,000 students showed that 96.5% of secondary school students and 86% of high school students have correct understanding of the environment. This number has increased compared to the previous period. This is a good thing and we will continue to make efforts together," Ms. Thanh emphasized.
